people still not getting it...this show is more than capable of getting 1.9/2.0 million no problem at all.

C5 settled for 3rd place when 1st was there to be had its only thanks to very narrow minded thinking they should look how BBC1 handled the tennis moved stuff around C5 still have time to add extra hours of coverage even just a few hrs in the evening.

friday it seems is another split show meaning again only 30 mins... you cant make this stuff up.

It's sad that its got to this point. I mean even I'm doing the same thing where this is actually good news when it really shouldn't be.

I'm sure C5 are happy that this years series is doing a little better than last years. However, why settle for a little better when it could be doing a lot better? Live feed can only add to the show and make it the event it once was.

It's really off putting having such a slow stream of information when the show used to live of a constant stream of new news and fan discussion / hype. It's especially annoying that I am enjoying this years BB immensely (both CBB9 and BB13 have been great IMO) which only makes me want to watch live even more.

Exactly, I have enjoyed these past two series and I think the LF would just add more to my enjoyment.

I don't think a regular series can reach 2m anymore in overnights. It shows, this year is 300k up on BB12. They need celebs to ensure a 2m+ overnight average. It's a shame that even if they did have 24/7 LF, i can't see a regular Ch5 series averaging over 2m. The days are over. People need to realize that. Celebs in there would be the only solution. 1.5m is on the higher end of regular Ch5 BB (BB12 and BB13). In fact, the 1.50m is probably around the 5th highest BB regular rating for a HL show ever since the move to Ch5.

That 1.50 will turn into 1.9m anyway in the officials, so what's the problem?

I have been saying it for ages...the normal housemate Big Brother does not draw anymore. The mass audience is not interested and considering it's in its 13th series that is understandable.

When CBB returns in a few weeks we will see the return of the 2.6/2.8 average.

Big Brother is not an expensive show to make either - filming people in a house 24/7 then condensing that into 45 minutes is not a hard or expensive task. They have product placement deals which will earn them a fortune.

But as you know the overnights are what the ad men love to know about. Sorry I dont agree if C5 just reset its point of view and stopped trying to not only turn people away but draw people back this should could get the numbers mentioned If CSI can pull in 1.7 in overnights BB can do better.Maybe the unknown factor in all this is just how many people have turned off because of the feed and format changes of the show.i think it could add at least another 170/200k

Good point regarding the officials.

There are plenty of ways to watch BB now, with the repeats, online, and by PVR. The overnight ratings might seem low but when you add this all up, the total audience for the series might just be 2m.

But the problem is there's no proof either way that the live feed will have an effect on viewing figures at all just theories. The only way to prove either way once and for all is to actually put it out there.

If it doesn't, BB still enjoys an audience that C5 is happy with. If it works then BB enjoys a larger audience and C5 is even better off. They've already said money isn't a problem and even if it is their are plenty of ways to recoup the costs if the live feed doesn't prove as popular as they'd hoped.

So this debate will go on and on until something is actually tried. There will be people who believe it'll do the show the world of good (and I am one of them) and people who believe it won't make a difference. There's only one way to find out.

But surely having 1.7/2,0 million in overnights then adding a lot more in officials would be a brilliant sign of the shows longterm?

when someone from endemol can tweet is it better to have the show burnout fast (with a feed ) or burnout slow (in its current form) that doesnt bode well for the longterm future.

its annoying because everyone knows this show can do much better than its currently getting and I dont think its unfair saying that.

I don't think that's their (Ch5's) fault. I really doubt that from nowhere that BB12 averaged 1.6m officially as it did and then BB13 would average 2.4m or something. That is very unrealistic. The show right now is at a 1.4m over nights/1.8-1.9m official average. I don't think it will ever go any higher than that. No matter how great the series, how good the twist, how much LF is brought back, etc...

It would be better, but we have no way of knowing whether with the feed the show would get 1.7m-2.0m in the overnights.

BB has been going on for 12 years now, it's a tired format. Look at the decline in ratings over the years:

BB7 - 4.7m (before the decline)
BB8 - 3.9m
BB9 - 3.6m
BB10 - 2.5m
BB11 - 2.9m
BB12 - 1.6m
BB13 - ? probably around 1.8m in officals

Celeb BB gets higher ratings without LF because of the added publicity which BB does not pull in. BB11 managed to have an uptick thanks to the publicity of being the last one.

tbh thats why we think here C5 are mad not using this final few weeks just squish some hours on 5* of feed to see

1.how much it rates for 5*
2.what impact if any it has on the h.l show

Where could they fit the LF on 5* though?

They can't just break the teleshopping contracts already in place and the disruption to the schedule could do more harm then good for the channel once BB is over.

If Channel 5 were seeing very little return they wouldn't have extended the contract until 2014. They would have ditched the show at the end of this year.

Does that mean that regular BB will be back in 2013 and 2014 or was the extended contract solely to secure CBB?

Well when you look at what the BBC has done this past week shifting things around dropping stuff.C5 should have no problem on 5*

If they kept BB at 9.With bots at 10pm then say 1hr 30 mins of feed on 5*? just to really see what impact it has for 5* and the h./l show If channel 5 really wanted we all know they could find a way.owing to the rules on Gambling they arent even allowed to show Casino stuff on C5+1 that just goes to waste in the night.

It should be. I think they are going to produce two celebrity series and one regular series a year like they have done this year.

LF doesn't have to be on TV.

Here is my proposal:
13.00-15.00 BB Live (replacing repeats)
Then a soap break with Neighbours and Home&Away
16.00-18.00 BB Live (replacing the BB repeat and...more repeats)
18.00-19.00 BB repeat (if this isn't pulling in the ratings, then just extend the LF)

Then an hour of LF from 23.00-00.00 (nothing more because there is teleshopping which I don't know if they could change)

I would say that this what they should have done this series, and if this was successful then they would see that the LF was viable, and if it wasn't then at least they could say they tried.

Not sure what company in france it was they bunged the entire thing online via Daily Motion about 5 feeds all free and no Geoblocking.

The surround of the feeds were inbedded adverts but no popups or anything onscreen it worked perfectly.

yep.Thats whats needed is come mega creative thinking and seeing if its worth going on the whole way this 30 mins again friday just seems bizarre.5* really does struggle outside the soaps that rating for the Sexy ad's show seems a massive amount for last friday theres no way that gets that rating normally surely?
