Can a dog stop liking their food ?

Hi Guys.

I have an 8yr old Springer and he has always enjoyed his food. He has been on Skinners for the last few years and it would be a race to the finish to eat it up before his sister. But, over the last few days he has reluctantly eaten it. I dont think he has a problem with his teeth as he tucked into a rawhide bone at the weekend with no trouble. He is also tucking into other things like his twice daily gravy bone and any snackerals he might have. He is also completely fine in himself and enjoying playtime and walks.

So - is it possible he has just gone off his Skinners ? I thought I read somewhere that dogs dont go off food as food is food ? They said its us owners who try and humanise them into having likes and dislikes. I don't know whether its worth buying a small bag of something else to try him on, but I dont want to give him the runs by changing his diet completely.

Has this happened to anyone else ?

Firstly any dog that seems to go off it's food should just be checked by the vet, could be nothing but it's important to find out IMO

Secondly I would cut out the extras and see if he eats his main food.

Thirdly yes I think they can get bored or sometimes the companies slip new improved recipes into action that the dog then doesn't like.

I change my dogs (dried and wet food) regularly otherwise she just refuses to eat it. She is a stubborn wee soul and would just rather starve than ate something she just doesn't fancy. I always have 3 bags of dried food on the go at any one time.
