World Richest Women Found Dead

BBC News.

One of the UK's richest women has been found dead in west London, the BBC understands.

The body of Eva Rausing, a member of the family behind the Tetra-Pak drink cartons empire, was reportedly found in a home in Cadogan Place, Belgravia.

The death is being treated as unexplained.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said a 49-year-old man had been arrested in connection with her death and on suspicion of possession of drugs.

He is currently in custody at a south London police station.

Police said they searched the address and found the body after making the drugs arrest on Monday.

A post-mortem examination began at 13:00 BST at Westminster Mortuary.

rumour has it the death was drug related. That's the chance you take when you do drugs.

Is this really showbiz? She was mega-rich but hardly a celebrity?

Not remotely a surprise. The Rausings are/were notorious abusers of drugs, Eva was even busted once with drugs on her when she visited the US Embassy - see this story from 2008

Embarrassed to say my first thought was whether she would be buried in a Tetra Pak.

.... and here I was thinking that Prince Charles had become king because Queenie, the Worlds Richest Woman, had finally kicked the bucket !!!!

But, she is Old Money, simply inherited her wealth from the UK, and doesn't count.

Once again substance abuse is likely to be considered as the intrinsic connection for the cause of death. Never underestimate the inevitable health implications of it.

Desperately sad. An incredibly generous and philanthropic couple who made a huge difference to the lives of thousands of addicted people through their generosity and support. And who also donated extensively to a variety of other causes.

Addiction is an illness and recovery is fragile.

I feel reassured that I am not the only person who thought that!

This is true but if they had both been jailed when they were arrested in 2008, as anyone else would have been, then perhaps they just might have effected a more sustainable recovery. It is almost unheard of to get away with a caution and 'court directed rehab' having been caught with the amount of drugs that they were caught with. One can only guess as to how they managed to avoid lengthy prison sentences (not much of a guess really as money talks!) The couple actually met in rehab and so their difficulties with addiction had gone on a very long time. The 2008 case reminds me of that saying from some judge decades ago, who said that "justice in this country is open to everybody ... just like the Ritz"...

Mostly, I feel terribly sorry for their 4 teenaged children. It's easy to cast judgement on the parents, easy to sit in our glass houses and throw stones. Personally, I don't much care one way or the other about the parents (Eva and Hans) but I DO feel desperately sorry for their children.

Totally agree, I keep wondering who has been parenting the children through their addictions. Sad situation, this should have been dealt with properley first time - I mean caught taking heroin and crack into American embassy and received caution-your average Jo would have got prison sentence for carrying that amount on street let alone trying to take it into an embassy -sad state of affairs. And patron of a drug charity, although very commendable shouldn't you get your own s*** in order before taking on that role I don't want to sound mean but in all I have read it does not sound like they temporarily lapsed back to drugs, more like they were bang at them and had the wealth & privilege to get away with it, sad. I hope those 4 children get some good care and parenting now & carve a better future

Well she is now!

I dispute that title though. Worlds richest woman? No. World's richest corpse? Yes.

How is this showbiz?

Don't get it.

Does simply being rich qualify you as an entertainer?
