splitter
Ive got one of those little white gizmos where
the phone line comes in.. it lets me attach a phone line and my computor b band line. Suddenly the phone has gone dead. The comp is still ok ( or I would nt be typing ) I take the gizmo out and plug the phone only in the socket and the phone works ok. Could this splitter have conked ? If so, where do you buy them from...( it s been so long since I orig got it !) |

It's not a splitter it is a ADSL filter. There are various electronic components inside the little box between the phone line and the phone socket on it. If one of these has failed then it could easily stop the phone working.
The fact that the phone works fine plugged directly into the socket on the wall implies there is no line fault and strongly indicates the filter is faulty. If you have a spare in the modem/router box or have an extension phone with one on then simply try that filter at the "faulty" socket. If the phone now works then that confirms the filter is dead. They are as cheap as chips (well almost ) so chuck the dead one away and get another if needed.

What's a computor ?
If you really must then I suppose PC World would rip you off for one. Or Maplin or just google ADSL filter or ADSL microfilter and take your pick
