Katie Price along with a few other celebs launched a new business venture, a website which she's been teasing fans on twitter about called 'YouGossip'... I don't realy know much about it yet, but from what i gather it's her new venture which pays you for uploading video and photos by sharing it's advertising revenue with a certain percentage going to Charity.

Katie Price's involvement is the one thing that's guaranteed to put me off buying something, using something or watching something. Why she's considered a good marketing ploy is beyond me. If companies want their products to be taken seriously, they need to stop using this woman (whose image equates, in most people's minds, to tackiness and poor quality).

Is this kind of like her "Charity" eBay auction page? Which says "I will also be donating all the net profit from the sales to a charity close to my heeart"

Am I right in thinking that she sells a top on there for 50 quid that originally cost 100 quid, then zero would go to charity?

All net profit from the sale on EBay .. Regardless of what the original item cost.... Goes to Vision Charity.. She pays someone to run the site and post items to people..

I don't quite get her ebay shop. I was initially thinking there isn't really anything to slate her for this, what's wrong with it?

But thinking about it more... Why is she paying someone to do this? If she wants a charity to benefit, why doesn't she simply hand them all her old stuff and they can sell it themselves?

If she's paying someone then why can't that money go to charity?

Or is she actually making money and then donating a small percentage of the profit - which is fine - she benefits, charity benefits. But it's actually her fans that are paying out money, not her.

Does anyone know any more details?

Thats a fair comment which I've not seen posted before. I know that John Barrowman gives stuff to the local Dogs Trust shop near me, they then auction it off on ebay and have all proceeds. It also saves him time in taking pics and posting online or getting someone else to do it.

Maybe Pricey has a lot of stuff, and doesnt trust anyone to sell it on, she might think that the charity would keep some of her stuff and not sell it on? I dont know...but you have made some valid points Loz.

if it went directly to the charity, then she wouldn't benefit from it and it's part of her revenue stream. I'm not criticising her btw, she's no different to countless other 'celebs' who do this. Win for her, win for the charity.

Actually from what I read she has someone do all the listing etc *which she pays them to do* just like the staff in some charity shops get paid.

Thing is I think she makes more money for charity doing it this way. Otherwise if people waNTED they could claim they have "katie gear" too.

I stand corrected if wrong but I could swear that on one of her shows she & Polly thingummy,the horse trainer's wife,were sorting out what was for selling because the Polly person was taking charge of it all. Wasn't there a fuss at the time over Katie paying Polly to do this when it was supposedly for charity ?

So not actually FOR charity. Just a business venture that is giving a nominal amount going to charity, so that actually it's the "charity" aspect which is being used to advertise the venture.

I'm not saying there is anything wrong with only giving a proportion of profits to charity, but plugging it/her as if it's some philanthropist venture is plainly wrong.

Yes my memory was that she was being paid and who knows who else. Question is, just how much money actually dribbles down to the Charity from the start point. Any help is better than none, but sometimes you wonder if some Celebrities get more out of the attention raised, than perhaps (if it could be weighed) the Charity gets in its benefit?

I disagree. All business people employ the correct people to carry on their vision. MM will have an accountant a solicitor, advisors in PR and advertising etc. It is drive, vision, man management and a quality product that makes a successful business. I once got told you can employ anyone to do anything but sales is a talent.
