Katie Waissel debacle

Hello, I havent posted on this forum before, so i am sorry in advance if i get anything wrong, post in the wrong section etc

I see news stories now and then about Katie Waissel, recently she has got engaged, and people still leave nasty comments on them.

'She should go away', but she hasnt wrote the article on herself.

i have been reading some past articles and threads on here,
saying she should be ashamed of herself , making fun of her grandmas profession, saying how can she sleep at night and that calling her Weasel.

Reading this has actually made me afraid, people have the ability to say these things about you, and there would be nothing you could do about it, like Katie.

I hope she is not ashamed of herself, it feels so bad to be ashamed of yourself, the worst.

I just want to know from some posters on here what was your opinion on it all and if you said some of those things, why and do you still think them?

there are normal people who use their own eyes and ears to make up their own mind about things, but there are people who take a mediated version as filtered through the likes of the Daily Mail and go with that...there's nothing we can do about these people, we're doomed to have to share the planet with them

I can't think of a single thing KW should be ashamed of

I didn't like Katie but it wasn't her fault that she was saved in favour of acts who were deemed better (Treyc, Aiden).

I wasn't a big fan of her performances but I never blamed her for that, I think it was completely the show's fault (editing, she needed better advice, song choices etc)

I think Simon and the producers loved the big media storm and unfortunately, despite all this 'giving her a chance' votes to keep her in, it was obvious they were just enjoying the reaction/headlines she was creating by being on the show. I felt sorry for her in a way.

Looking back, she was completely harmless. I don't understand why there was a fuss. Yes, she was a bit dramatic in her VTs, and there were better singers/performers who should have been put through - but that was never her fault.

Part of the problem for me was that I never thought her live show song choices were very good. Her mentor/producers should have just let her sing (like she did in her sing-offs) without the dramatics and so much focus being on her personally. The choice of 'Sex on Fire' the week her Grandma news broke seemed tacky, and only done for attention (hence the reason Simon thought it was 'genius' )

During the last series, there was an article about Katie with an interview. She seemed very well rounded and not in the least bit bitter about how horrendously she was treated. She was happy gigging with her band, and just seemed generally happy. It was a good read, and nice to see that she wasn't destroyed by the ordeal. (I just tried to Google the article but couldn't find it)

I liked Katie a lot on the show. She bordered on a little desperate at times, but other than that, seemed really nice and sweet. I honestly rate her in my top 10 contestants from all years.
