Haha

Radio 1 are out of their minds. Best for the trendy audience though i guess.

I love Grimmy. Although im surprised theyve given him breakfast. I thought it would be Scott with Grimmy taking over afternoons.

I think Scott would have been the natural choice, but apparently age is not on his side. Grimmy is the closest to Scott and Chris' style, so great choice.

I'm 16 years old and I have to say I am going to be turning off aswell.

Moyles is the only R1 DJ who really presents "a show" he speaks his mind.

Love him or hate him like he said on Friday they are still the most exciting thing on Radio 1.

I must be the only one who is welcoming this decision, you got to admit Moyles got annoying after a while I dont think I have listened to his show in about 4 years he used to just grate on me and would moan so much and hardly play any music and if he did play music it was shit!

Welcome along Grimmy! anyones better than Moyles. Would have liked Coxy back though.

I assume so as well. He's the best choice if they've been hounded by the trust to chase the younger demographic.

I would say it definitely is a sign of Radio 1 aiming even younger with its target audience. He seems to be best suited to 15-16 year olds so I would imagine that soon a 22 year old would be too old for Radio 1!

I'm sure that I read somewhere that he's a bit of a tit and has an extremely high opinion of himself?? Not sure if thats correct but I'm sure I heard it from someone...

Well I left radio 1 when moyles took on the roll so I might tune in to give Grimmy a go. I personally think radio 1 might lose listeners but grimmy might gain some back.

Clever choice for now.

There is no obvious successor, Moyles is an incredibly different gig to follow, and he's done well in daytime covering.

Grimshaw can play the celebrity card, has been on telly and has a decent personality about him.

If he flops, they won't have played the Greg James card, and he can spend the next few years improving. And the station can look for other successors, having got the Moyles monkey off their back.

I do worry that Grimshaw tries too hard to be cool - the tweets from people saying it's exciting for 'mainstream radio' and the praise from The Guardian concern me. If broadsheets and trendy people like you, most people won't. There is the danger of a Mark and Lard situation here - someone from nighttime radio taking on daytime permanently.

I don't think it'll be that bad, but Radio 1 will have to be ready for a huge drop in the figures to start with.

Nothing against Nick btw, I have enjoyed his daytime covering and will be giving his nighttime show more of a shot from now on.

According to the DS "Ten Things you didn't know" we can expect lots of talk about TOWIE and lots of visits from One Direction.

Well that's sorted then, bye

If you mean a fall guy to cope with a handful of bitchy, narrow minded critics on internet forums, I'm sure he'll more than make the grade.

The one thing Radio 1 have always done for Breakfast Show hosts is promoted from within rather than look to outside sources

I must admit it was a surprise when I saw Nick's name but I suppose time will tell if he's a success

I sort of agree, I think Nick Grimshaw is the transition guy, they've put too much into Greg James for him to take over from Chris Moyles and get the flack for falling ratings etc, I give it 18 months before they give the job to Greg James and hope that the memory of Moyles is done by then.

Nick Grimshaws actually really funny, I enjoyed listening to his show filling in for Scott Mills.
What would have been devestating is if Greg James got it!

Some people are saying 'Grimmy' is hilarious. Can't see it at all myself.
