On giffgaff, my connection went down about 16:45, after doing various things including taking out the SIM and putting it back, my connection is now working again.

My number gives a message saying that it's not registered when dialled. This isn't transmitter issues, this is some sort of centralised failing - it's as if o2 has forgotten certain numbers stopping calls from connecting and stopping people from dialling them.

I think this could be a big issue.

FWIW, I just rang my (also offline) mobile using the landline and got a "Sorry there is a fault" message - ie. not even reaching o2 message bank.

Hmmm.... wonder if her port out will go through smoothly on Friday.

Tesco Mobile (O2) are down in the Halifax area, a right royal pain as my daughter was late home from school trip and school could not get through!

I've had no network access at all since about 3pm. Bars on phone just crossed out and it says No Service. I'm in South Lanarkshire. According to other news sites the outage is only affecting the poor sods on O2 contracts. Like me. The Pay as you go O2 phones are working fine.....

I can assure you that giffgaff's customers are all affected, and by default, they are all PAYG customers!

You know things are bad when you make the main headlines of the BBC News: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-18801300

From what I can fathom, I can keep a signal if I take out the SIM, put it back in and restart the phone as long as I am within range of a cell. If I go outside of a cell, I cannot connect until I repeat that process.

You won't have data but I have managed to send a text.
