Whats with all the Madonna hate?
Has anyone noticed how hated Madonna now seems to be?
What happened? she is always getting such nasty and vile abuse. Did Lady Gaga replace her or something? |

Madonna has been dividing opinions since her debut. Madonna has never set out to be the nation's darling or to please people.

If you put someone on a pedestal, then people will naturally be more critical than they would otherwise. I think people are just realising that Madonna isn't actually that great...

Madonna has always been hated.
Nowadays it's more vocal because she seem more desperate with her flappy GILF nipples flapping about for headlines. Even back in the 80's she was hated by some. I can understand this as she always comes across as a right **** and her music is and always has been balls. You can't please all of the people all of the time. |

I guess it depends what you mean by hate. If you mean the out pouring of ageism which is being directed at her door I think this signals two things.
a) society's view on age is a big problem. Who says life should end at 30? I think the ''go away grandma'' mentality says more about the people making those comments than Madonna herself. Madonna has always pushed the bounderies of what people see as exceptable and I guess she is now doing it with her age as being the main focus. If she is doing that then good on her because its what she has ALWAYS been about. b) if she was a man she wouldn't be getting this sort of flack. This is a fact. Ironically Madonna has always fought sexism. Now she is having to fight ageism and sexism combined. Also as others have said. Madonna is placed so high that she always has had her haters. Mainly its down to jealousy from other fangroups and the like. There is also a section of her fans who aren't happy at the direction she has gone in musically but these are still real fans. The one's who aren't real fans are the one's who insult over her appearance. That is how you can always tell the difference between hater groups and frustrated fans. Anyway who would want to have such nasty fans anyway when they say such awful things! I would be ashamed if I was a famous celeb and my fans acted like this. |

Madonna's a one-off
I have great respect for her and how she's contributed to the music scene for so many years. Let's see how long some of the current female singers fare![]() There's always someone somewhere, slagging, ridiculing, and being downright rude and disrespectful to her and others and I just don't understand how some people's mind works![]() As my lovely Mother once told me, "If you can't say something nice, then say nothing at all"

As many have said...Madonna since day 1 has attracted such a negative wash and opinionated people....but it has since dwindled into petty comments tbh.
Madonna is still in the top of her game and in the spotlight like no one else has. People should be respectful but instead they always focus on a negative light and its frustrating but alas.... Madonna causes conflict in her music, in her performances, in her imapct in pop culture...that is why she is the status she is tbh. I say bring it on...if you arent on board with her then too bad tbh.....thats when the most exciting stuff happens.....but as long as she is still ruffling feathers, causing conflict and pushing the boat out forwards then ROCK ON ]\/[! |

Madonna still at the top of her game?? She really isn't, judging by her recent album and single sales, which have fallen quicker than a wh*res drawers

Madonna has a status and legendary impact in music and culture....most of her contemporary artists either have dwindled behind the scenes and need to do a lot to market their new material and/or have fallen completely off the radar long ago! Whereas Madonna is setting new records with her tour, was the most watched TV event of the year, has sold 1.5million copies of her album on fanbase/name alone...id say not bad going |

It annoys me - but I suspect had the internet been around between 1982-1995 she'd have pretty much the same amount of bile written about her as she does now....Christ (pun intended) in 1992 with Erotica, Sex and Body of Evidence - there would have been a meltdown

But even then i dont think the internet truly replicates the full picture of everything! But yeah...the internet may have ignited and burned 1992-93 ![]()

When did The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Elton John last have singles and albums that set the world alight? They, and many others, often live of the back of former glories. Sales of singles and albums are very different now to what it was when she had Ray Of Light out for example. The whole situation has changed so much, whether that be because of downloads or the fact that Top Of The Pops doesn't exist anymore. |

I think her fans put me off her to be honest, as they always talk about her compared to pretty much any musician. if she inspired them then that's good but it seems that you can't read too many posts on here without there being some mention about Madonna.

she's always been hated (if that's the word which it probably isn't but it's what we use these days) it's just the reason that changes
![]() first it was for her music, then for the off-the-shelf controversies, and now it's for still being here |

I'm not really familiar with recent Madonna beyond Music but I like a lot of her earlier stuff. I don't especially like Madonna as a persona. I always felt that her music could stand on its own without her various attempts at being controversial. I wouldn't say I hate her though. Some people though take great delight in expressing venom.

yep, not sure why anyone thinks attention is always a good sign. That would make those idiots out of TOWIE or the Kardashians somehow culturally relevant right now
