I cancelled my cats old policy when they started taking triple payments every month, but forgot to get a new one. Now I'm facing a £500 vet bill!

So I need a new policy for any future incidents. Which seems to think Argos Platinum is a good one http://www.which.co.uk/money/insuran.../pet-policies/ It gets a 95% score. I just wondered if anyone had heard of any good deals at the moment? Thanks

We use Animal Friends - dont know how their price matches up but customer service is excellent and they are 100% ethical - all of their profits go to various animal charities, that was a deciding factor for me.

I have my home insurance with NFU, included in that is my pet insurance- rather handy as I don't have to think of it separately (I also think it's cheaper doing it that way as they have got other insurance business from me)

Don't go for the cheapest, as if you have a claim they will then have lots of clauses which they won't pay out, (it was in the small print that you don't read).
We are with Pet Plan, they have 3 different covers, one that will insure you for a year, one that will insure you for a maximum amount on one condition, or a complete life one which pays out for conditions that are on going. More expensive but peace of mind.
Also check the small print alot of compaines won't pay out the full amount if your pet is over 8 years old !!!!

I can only speak for the one that I'm with. Pet Plan. They're not the cheapest but they pay, no quibbles.

Recommended them to a friend and she's so glad I did. They've just paid out over £5000 pounds for her dog that was hit by a car.

Again, please, please ensure you read the small print. A policy may not turn out to be the bargain you initially thought it was.

Best thing to do is to not only get quotes but as others have said check small print, compare like for like on quotations to make sure it gives the cover you need.

If you have existing policy which you were happy with (apart from the triple payments) dig it out see what it covered and make sure the other insurers cover is the same, I did a bit of digging around for ours before I settled on Sainsburys (also get double nectar points for one year) they cover everything as we had before and looking through small print seem ok, but I'm new to them so time will tell it was with Halfax they were great, paid up no problem for vet claim over £2000 - unfortunately Halifax no longer do pet insurance so had to look elsewhere.

We've used John Lewis for our dogs and have not a problem with them paying up and the Vet seems quite happy with them.
