Sky+hd New Look Theme! Anyone got it yet?

I just got it today, I do like it, but liked the other one better, will take some getting used to,

Why don't they add Undelete option or restart the whole episode option when tuning in half way, just like BBC IPLAYER did?

I heard BBC iPLAYER will be on SKY+HD, is there any truth in that?

Thanks

I like it, much nicer than the previous one, that looked a bit cheap to me.

Similar functionality already exists, though I admit it's not as slick. I can't comment on the new EPG as I don't have it yet, but with the previous ones...

All you do is press and hold the rewind button until the << symbol on screen changes to the |< symbol. The same also works for jumping to the end using the fast forward key.

There are limitations however, primarily finding the start of the program only works on recorded programs. On the live channels it will just go back as far as it can. In addition:
  • If it's a live program rather than a recording it depends on the size of the buffer you set for instant rewind, so the max time it can go back is one hour
  • Again if it's on a live broadcast it only works for the current channel you are viewing, changing channels clears the buffer
  • On recordings if you've set bookmarks* it will jump to the previous bookmark each time you do it and to the start of the program if there are no previous bookmarks
*Bookmarks
Bookmarks can be added to any recording by simply pausing playback then pressing the red button. These can then be used to jump back and forth using |< and >| or you can call up the bookmark menu by pausing and pressing the green button

I find it more difficult to read the text on screen now, so I have to move closer to the TV to see it.

yep, I think it looks like they have crammed more info onto one page to me so the font must be a bit smaller.

Yeah, my box appeared to 'randomly' turn off and wouldn't turn back on - I thought it was broken. Then about 5 minutes later it came back on with the new user interface.

Yeah, it looks like it's been designed for big TV's - I think there is more text visible on the screen now too.

I had the same reaction when I changed from an old SD box to the HD one recently though too - I got used to it.

I don't have a big TV to fully appreciate it though.

On the design of it, I don't really like it - especially the 'play' icon. But I'm sure I'll get used to it - I felt the same way with the old design, then grew to like it better than the SD box.

Ditto! I'm shortsighted -10 and it's all too cluttered for my comfort - certain colours against another are hard to read IMO - white on black is dire, again IMO.
This change is for the worse as far as I'm concerned.

I spat the dummy out, it was the final nail for me with Sky, it looks so conservative and I hate it. I wonder what I'll do with my monthly savings!

I don't like how you have to select one of the logos when going into a program category. Seems a bit of a pain in the arse.

Why must people change things just for the sake of it?

Much prefer it - being able to see more channels at a time makes browsing so much easier. Text is really clear - anyone who is struggling to read that really needs to get their eyes re-tested (or wear their glasses)
