Do you have a radio?

Inspired by the CD player thread, how many of you still have a radio?

If so, is it a dedicated radio or part of a hifi etc?

and is it a DAB radio?

I used to use my standard radio in my HiFi regularly until the aerial broke - I can't seem to find another.

I'd like a DAB radio, and I now occaisionally use the radio online and on the TV.

I have quite a few radios but the only one I use on a regular basis is my old Unident scanner for listening to amateur radio.

I have a Pure Evoke DAB radio in my greenhouse and a Sony DAB/FM tuner in the house.

What is the R20 like to use? I tried an IC-R3 a few years ago and it was completely deaf.

DAB in the dinning room and FM in the bedroom, bathroom, living room, kitchen and shed.

Radio 4 is on all day in our gaff from The Today Programme until Sailing By.

I've got an ordinary radio that cost me about eight pounds from Tesco.

It's absolutely fine, I listen to R4 in the kitchen.

I listen to local radio in the car.

I have and use my XM satellite radio in my car and I have my alarm clock set to wake me up to radio music.

All of my music at home is streamed from my Mac, from my iPad, from online sources such as MOG and Pandora, all controlled by the iPad with AirPlay to an AirPort Express plugged into a stereo system.

I have a few but two I use regularly. A Pure Evoke Flow internet/dab radio in the kitchen that also streams music from my pc. I spend a lot of time in the kitchen and it's always on. The other is a cheapo tesco thing in the bathroom that I listen to while I have a shower.

I've disconnected the aerial from my car stereo to stop people messing around with the radio and tuning in shit when I'm driving. I keep having this horrible vision of my car disappearing under the wheels of a lorry and the last song I hear is by Cheryl bloody Cole or something. Life is too short for crap music.

I've got a few pieces of equipment that can pick up radio but the only things ever listen to are Test Match Special and Adam Walton's show on Radio Wales and I'm slightly ashamed to say that I usually listen to them on the telly or computer.

The R20 is an absolute gem and easy to use, once you have practiced a few times. It has loads of features, which makes it wise to read the manual!

The frequency range is excellent (150 kHz to 3304.999 MHz in the UK).

Easier to link rather than list http://www.icomuk.co.uk/IC-R20/Handh...ceiver-Scanner

I've got a DAB radio in my bedroom. The FM reception is a bit poor there, but the DAB reception isn't too bad, so I use that instead...

I might look at getting one some when then if they are that good. At the moment I use an FT-8800R when I am out in the car but a handheld would be useful for listening away from the vehicle.

No, but I plan on getting one eventually though. The radio on Freeview's not that good. Not much variety in terms of channels. Talking about a DAB radio here.

A truly terrifying end Keep it on R4 and then you'll get Kirsty Young's sexy brogue on Desert Island Discs or Melvyn Bragg's reassuring yet erudite tones on In Our Time to accompany that last sqeal of brakes as the wheels lock and the windscreeen implodes on impact. Nice!

We have maybe 15 or so radios or gadgets with radios.
(including 3xCloclk Radios/3xCassette Radios (spare room, shed and garage), my old Sony Walkman with radio (no longer used, use my phone now), 2xCD radio (kitchen and conservatory), 2 portable radios used when gardening or doing chores/DIY, Set-top boxes (radio almost never used on those, Car Radio always used)

Only 1 crappy DAB radio which is never used since we live in a reception blackspot.

8 of the above are in regular use.

The threat of FM being switched off makes me boil with rage. I have written about my displeasure a couple of years ago and will do so again when the threat level increases.

Comments about how wonderful DAB is, and how cheap the receivers are getting, cut no ice in our household.

Does anyone not have a radio?

I have a few. I shelled out for a pocket dab years ago but was mightily pissed off because there is a very poor signal where I live. The plan was to listen to it when travelling but it keeps cutting out. Plus it goes through batteries very quickly.

The latest one I bought was this tesco world band radio. It's very good for the price but I can't seem to be able to pick up anything on the SW channels at all.

I tend to use Freeview most of the time but occasionally switch on my antique 1934 Bush radio - doesn't get VHF, but brilliant reception on Medium, Long and Short wave, with a superb sound quality.

I would love to get my hands on one of those old valve sets from the 40s, used to have on in the shed many years ago. You're right, the sound quality and reception was brilliant with them.
