Exactly the same as Gaga's if Gaga was an Egyptian ruler lady who got it on with a a salad making Roman and invented 'to posh to push'

I am a huge fan of Gaga, so I suppose that means I'm a Little Monster, but please guys, don't assume we all shout about people copying Gaga and go apeshit over tiny things, because we don't. It's the same with any fanbase that their are a few crazies, but because of the LM label, it makes it look like their are more than their actually is.

Thanks

Of course. There are mental, crazed fans (or stans, if you will) of all artists.

I think the Mother Monster/Little Monsters thing is abit cringey. Its like The Spice Girls with Girl Power. That was cool until you hit 15 then it became embarrassing and everyone made fun of it and accused you of being 10 years old.

Imagine when the little monsters hit their 20's, it would be a bit cringey then

When a celeb does a photoshoot they are not the ones who choose the style and imagery of the shoot. Grow up.

Singers can't breathe nowadays without copying each other Katy looked great in that photshoot and is going great guns at the moment but other fan groups feel the need to trash her

Nobody has EVER copied Lady Gaga before.

Lady Gaga fans are always picking on Katy Perry because she's had the Hot 100 success last year that they wanted/hoped/thought Lady Gaga would get (especially when Born This Way came out, and a couple of weeks later E.T. got popular and completely overshadowed it). This is the main reason they hate Dr. Luke (well, Katy, and also because of Tik Tok which overshadowed Bad Romance), and why they hate remixes.

I know, "Alejandro" sounds very similar to Madonna's "La Isla Bonita"

I've not heard that one before. I thought the general feeling was that it sounded like this

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FTMbNj5DHmw

I'm actually surprised there hasn't been a lawsuit over that. She had to pay these guys here

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KfrBq...layer_embedded

once they realised what had happened. So Ace Of Base probably have their own grounds to sue. Likewise with Madonna for Express Yourself. If someone can sue Madonna over a 2 second horn on Vogue then she can most certainly file a claim against Born This Way.

I like Gaga but she has ''borrowed'' from so many it just doesn't make her unique in any way. I doubt 95% of people even know her real name. Which trust me, in just 5 years time will start to cause her problems. Being called Lady Gaga in your 30s is just so not 'cool'.

But stay bitter
Was about to say the same thing, as if Katy walked into Vogue and said "Right for this shoot the theme will be X and I will look like X" they'll have spent ages designing what her look was to be to fit in with whatever the theme of the magazine was.

It's almost like people WANT to hate other people and need to be full of hatred and anger at random strangers to feel better about something.

Sorry I just had to bite, but it's clear you have not got the slightest clue of music law/litigation works.

1. Getting sued for non clearance of a sample is not the same as getting sued for similarity of a melody. Hence, when Gaga assembled Electric Chapel, she/her people paid for clearance to use that sample, just as they did with Americano (Rosemary Clooney's "Mambo Italino"), in stark contrast to Madonna. Despite what you may think, paying in advance for a service is not the same as using that service without paying for it.

2. There are certain generic riffs that no one owns, due to the length of time they have been in existence. As that "reggae-lite" riff has been in use in popular music since the 1920s then it is the public domain as it is more than half a century old and out of copyright (Although that has recently been extended to 75 years for works recorded since 1954). Hence nobody can sue nobody else for using it as it belongs to the public domain.

3. Re: the whole Born This Way = Express Yourself. Firstly, due to the finite number of musical notes available, you can copy a set number of notes that are identical to another song without getting done for publishing. BTW falls inside that criteria, so Madonna's music publishers could not sue. Secondly, it's a generic disco chord sequence that has been used over the past 35/40 years on literally hundreds of songs. Hence you had the likes of guitarist/producer/songwriting legend Nile Rodgers & the Key Of Awesome put medleys up on their websites highlighting many of the same songs which share the identical chord sequence as those two songs. Thirdly, the whole story is told in 33 Revolutions Per Minute: A History of Protest Songs by Dorian Lynskey; in particular the two lawsuits Madonna faced back in 1989/1990 with regards the lack of originality of her composition Express Yourself which hardly give Madonna & her fans the moral high ground. A bit like John Terry labelling someone a racist.

4. Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta is a classically trained pianist who attended New York University's Tisch School of the Arts (FAME school) where amongst other things she learnt all about music songwriting; theory; publishing and law.

5. I fail at all to see the problem with her brand moniker when she reaches her 30s. The word lady is a polite term for a woman, specifically the female equivalent to, or spouse of, a lord or gentleman relating specifically to women of high social class or status. Whilst naming yourself after a David Bowie song (Lady Stardust) & Queen song (Radio GaGa) is pretty impressive, as it means she can cope "under pressure". Whilst in her first ever interview in the UK media in Popjustice she made it clear that like her name her manifesto was for her music and visuals (in the spirit of Andy Warhol's Pop Art culture) to take ideas, concepts and things that have already been done and represent them in new contexts, hence making a large amount of the criticism about her lack of uniqueness redundant.

Anyone have proof Madonna was sued over Express Yourself? thats news to me but very interesting if true. There is nothing on the Wiki page about it.

Has it been made up? it looks like it as there is nothing to say it happened. why do people make up lies

Brilliant post. Hopefully those who unfairly criticise her will be silenced now.
