RPG board games.

I used to be a huge fan of these back when younger, and used to play HeroQuest/Advanced HQ/ Spacecrusade alot.

Have looked around for modern versions of these or similar games with no success. Does anyone know of a modern version of these readily available? The ones I located (IE Descent), seem to be very limited editions..

I usually use IGUK and Maelstrom Games for buying (in addition to Amazon and eBay).

It seems as if Fantasy Flight Games has picked up where Games Workshop left off including remakings of DungeonQuest, Fury of Dracula, Blood Bowl and Talisman (and not always for the best).

Descent is actually very good and an imminent re-release is on the cards, so to speak.

You could always try something a little different to boardgaming as well like Quarriors!, for example?

The 3 recent D&D Co-op board games are kinda Heroquest-ish:
Castle Ravenloft
Wrath of Ashardalon
Legend of Drizzt

But, yeah, Descent is supposed to be the nearest you'll get to Heroquest/Advanced Heroquest nowadays...

Talisman is the game I played 20 years ago and still play the updated version now. It's fantastic

The Second Edition Descent release is any day now. That would certainly be the one to start with.

The best website to find info out on boardgames is www.boargamegeek.com

Yeh Hero Quest and Space Crusade where the daddies. My mates and myself used to play those all the time but then we moved on to Xbox games. We also played 'Block Wars' which was a 2000AD/Judge Dredd board game. It is a shame becuase there has not been anyting as good since. 'Magic: The Gathering' on Xbox live is pretty good
