The Simpsons to end in 2014.

It came for the voice behind Mr Burn himself.

It won't.

The Simpson's has being a great comedy and is one of the truly great programmes of the last 20 years, however the show is well past it's best and if it is true that the show is to end in 2014 then it might be for the best. For the first 10 or 11 season's it was one of the best programmes that has ever being on TV but now it is a mere shadow of the show it once was, and it maybe be for the best if it is put to bed.

Unless I see an official source announce it, I'll take it with a pinch of salt.

Well although I still watch it the show has definitely run it's course so I won't be surprised if it's true.

Sky 1 have definitely lost interest in showing them at almost US pace now because they have stopped new episodes for a year before suddenly starting them last week before Sinbad.

They didn't finish the current series run through of Futurama episodes neither so they have lost interest in that too..

Agreed I watched some episodes in the old days and that was enough. I don't know how it lasted this long but it has so many viewers but I really don't know how.

Yes. A quarter of a century of The Simpsons has a nice ring to it. But Shearer himself is only guessing.

I think they didn't really see any significant increase in ratings by showing them so close, so don't really bother now.

There was that one awful awful season they did, and it kept getting shown on Ch4 constantly. The only ep I can remember is where Selma adopts that chinese baby. Possibly the worst ep ever. It's definitely lost it spark, the characters aren't even the same people as they were when it started out. Especially Homer, he lost that loveable fool aspect years ago.

I thought the film was a step in the right direction, but really it should have ended around 2000. I think it then would have been deemed a wholly classic show.

Sometimes I think South Park is going down a similar route but then they do something that just makes me lose it laughing and I know it's still okay. At least it stays relevant, unlike The Simpsons.

The recent few seasons have seen a real increase in quality and there were some great laugh out loud moments from last week's new episodes. I liked the way they made fun of The Italian Job in "The Book Job"!

It's not that bad. Still better than a lot of shows out there.
