oh dont over-exaggerate!!! they started their routine sitting in a car for all of about 5 seconds!

How is that any different from Chelsee starting her jive up a tower?

It seems that there is one rule for Aliona and a completely different set of rules for the rest of the pros on this forum

There weren't props on SCD back when Karen won it, but I have no reason to think she wouldn't be raiding the props cupboard like the rest of the pros if she was on it these days.

Well correct me if I'm wrong then, but I thought there was a thread last series based on prop count, and Aliona was one of the pros with the lowest prop count in the series, and this from someone who went all the way to the final and did more dances than most!

I recall she used more the previous series with Matt, but why the use of props seems to be brought up in particular with Aliona confuses me somewhat.

The only reason there weren't props in Series 4 is that Erin's use of them for Colin's showdance in the series before was so AMAZING that everyone else was intimidated to use them, because they knew they couldn't measure up.

Of course! Erin brought us the debut of the prop, and it was such an overwhelming success that people were crying out for their return, and couldn't understand why it took 5 series for them to reappear!

Just seen this, I didn't comment on the car as I thought it wasn't that much of an obstruction. However, that's how a prop SHOULD be used. It's not so much how many props a pro uses, it's HOW they use them, and Aliona doesn't seem to know how to use them properly.

I believe Erin in fact pioneered the use of props a series earlier, when Julien got his maracas out in the samba.

Oh I see. Its no longer how many but how they are used. Thanks for clarifying. Hilarious.

Yes but Erin's only ever had duffer props to work with. Has she ever had a chance to show what she could do with a middle of the road or good prop like Flavia's cannon or Pasha's donkey?

I don't want to see the same pros always getting first choice from the bbc prop box. It's about time the good props were shared around

I don't think that's really fair - Pasha's donkey was 4ft 2, so clearly should have been paired with Vincent.

Is that 4ft 2 with hooves or without hooves?

That's it in a nutshell for me - I don't want her to be given anybody reasonably fit and young whose popularity she can ride on this series...........someone mentioned pairing her with someone like Ronnie O'Sullivan...well to me somebody like him is a successful sports person in his 30s so he's relatively young and will no doubt have a huge fan base....and like Ramps and A Healey he might turn out to be a great dancer and even if he's not so great like Henson he still might have other assets that will make him popular with viewers!

So looking at who Lilia got after she had a good run for 3 years she got Dom Littlewood - I'd say give Aliona at least someone 40 + without dance experience and a huge fanbase - I don't necessarily want her out in the first few weeks but one thing I know for sure is I don't want her going beyond the half way point this series!

No need for sarcasm. I don't mind props if they enhance a performance. Aliona's scarcely do which is why I'm more annoyed with her choreography than her use of props. Never stated otherwise.

Well, both Aliona and Pasha used cars in their Jive/Charleston respectively. Neither of them were used in a way which A) disrupted the flow of the dance B ) were used to detract from an obvious lack of dancing talent or C) Took away from the overall feel of the piece. Not saying I condone their use but it would be remiss of me to criticise when they didn't really feature, like Pasha's Donkey :P

Whatever u may think of Aliona she always gets people talking which is what the producers want , this is exactly why I think she will be given another good celeb this yr .

Damahepa if you want to multi quote there is a small icon next to the quote icon just click the multi quote icon on every post you want to comment on and then press the quote button and you can address all your points in one post.

It's just a suggestion and it's not just directed at you but the thread is going way off topic now........perhaps posters should agree to disagree on props and Aliona's choreography and move on because the topic is about who would make a good celeb partner for Aliona!

Consistently top or near top of the leaderboard and series champions, suggests there wasn't much wrong with her choreography or the few props she did use.

And back to the matter in hand, I would be delighted if Aliona had what's known as a contender this time
