This morning banging on about last in series

Why when most regular viewers no that if they turn on ITV 10:30 monday morning, the program will be there like any other weekday, apart from it being Eamnon and Ruth.

Why have silly hubbie awards, and stupid news review of whats happened since last september, when the show will be back on as normal on monday

Why is it that most TV ''presenters'' only seem capable of working a three or four-day week when the rest of the world works five days or even longer with shift patterns over seven days ?

I can understand why Holly may need a break, she has the done the voice, celeb juice and stuff, and has 2 small children, who she obviously needs time for, otherwise the kids will think Nanny or Minder, is probably mummy and not holly.

Philip's children, cant be youngish now, i aint got a clue how old they are, but arent babies. I guess he needs a break as he is mr ITV aint he, but cant see why he needs like every holiday off.

Eamomn, is a hard worker, does Sunrise in the mornings, and then goes to this morning when its his turn, he cant have much time for his children, on his own, and ruth is always there.

You never see eamomn having a break.

Next Friday the show is presented by John Barrowman and Kate Thornton, is that johns first time as presenter and not a guest

...because tv presenters don't do just one show in the case of Eamonn and Holly, that and they have agents who can do better deals than the 'common man'

I no Eamomn isnt the main presenter, but he seems to be one of the hardest working men on tv, especially in the mornings.

Barrowman was a guest presenter in Feb this year, and looking on his web site he was also a guest presenter way back in 2006!

They do this every summer. I raised it in the Ratings Thread I think last year and was told IIRC that ITV technically regard the Summer version of TM as a different series to the autumn/winter/spring one. Possibly this is for accounting reasons - they commission shows to a set order of episodes.

In the past they have had years when it has not been on at all between series so really did end (like Loose Women does) for a summer break,

The only thing I dislike about it is that it seems to belittle the role that Eammon, Ruth and all the other regular item presenters bring to the show (as they will still be around for the next 6 weeks). The big promotion as the end of a run when it is really just the two main presenters taking their usual Summer holidays unintentionally projects an image that TM is really just about Phil and Holly which comes across as a tad egotistical.

However, it usually makes for a fun last episode of the week because they treat us to all these frivolities - just like they do with things like the panto when they take a few weeks off over Christmas.

So on balance I have no complaints.

Has anyone got a link to the montage video they did?

The summer run has got some good presenters and its a good platform for presenters to practice to a bigger audiences in the cases of Emma Willis who has come from MTV/Big Brother.

Because they work in an industry where they are not governed by the bog-standard 9-5, Mon-Fri routine, where agents are more prevalent, where those agents can negotiate the best terms on their behalf, and therefore can agree individual contracts, and where they can (and do) work on several projects at different times. Also, the concept of a freelancer is more prevalent here than in most other industries (and I guess that Eamonn Holmes is one such freelancer) where they might work for several broadcasters or media platforms.

If we have to see holmes as a perminant host its bye bye to the show just cant stand him.

He likes to act all big and tough but when that guy burst on the lottery he cowered behind the glamour girl and after he had gone said dont worry id of sorted him out.

Bit of a wimp.

It was way over the top...as if the show couldn't continue without them.

Which leads me to wonder if Holly as had a better offer from elsewhere, replacing Ferane Cotton at Royal events?

Or is there talk from ITV execs of getting new presenters.

This Morning has changed too much to accommodate Holly's forced 'girliness' which is the biggest turn-off. Ruth should've been promoted to main presenter when Fern left, but I'm sure Phillip wouldn't have been happy.

I agree that it seems silly 'ending' the usual This Morning and marketing Summer This Morning as an almost completely separate. The Summer line up looks really good and refreshing. To me it is just the usual presenters taking their holidays, Eamonn and Ruth are fun and do a good job IMO. I hope to catch a a couple of episodes over the summer, with the odd few days I have booked off work.

There is a very limited market for presenters at diamond jubilees and the BBC won''t make the same mistake again with Ms Cotton

I saw one of the summer shows last year, and although I preferred Eamonn to Schofield, the production values looked much lower than normal.

There was a toe-curling OB.

I think Eamon and Ruth are far better than Holly and Phillip the difference is rather odd since they are on the same show with the same audiance.Holly and Phillip seem to voice there own opinion when they should be unbiased not to mention neither of them are funny and Phill is a clear Tory voter by a mile.

I remember they had Imogen Thomas judging some "hunky men" competition at some foreign beach location. I'm not sure if this was one of the Summer shows (the beach location would fit that theme) but it was just after the details of the Ryan Giggs affair emerged. I know This Morning isn't meant to be taken that seriously, but I thought it was in bad taste to parade a homewrecker with a line of men. "Hopefully" (it's like a turkey wishing for Christmas here!), we'll just have Biggins appearing this year.

I can't believe this tired out load of junk is still going. I managed to endure 20 minutes of it last year and I couldn't stand Phil Schofield's fake grin and a discussion about last night's soaps. This Morning is just trash now compared with the excellent show it was when it came from Liverpool.

I actually thought it was a decent show back in the 90s. Seems like a whole different show now, with so much filler and competitions. When you consider this, Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby have a cushy number.
