Yes, but it seems there was an unforeseen mix up which prevented them coming through Arrivals (and many of those fans may well have gone to the airport anyway). What if the flight had been delayed for a few hours or diverted? These things happen.......the fans should get over themselves.

I guess everyone is going to have to make a personal decision as to whether J&E remain 'accessible' to a small few, or are allowed to fly.

It's a real Catch-22... I understand that fans who have met them want to continue this accessibility, but this wish does not mesh with international exposure.

So what does everyone want? J&E remaining a local act or international exposure? Rest assured, these two paths are not mutually compatible.

Can their fans put aside their own personal wants for the good of the twins?

It's a bit unfortunate that the twins tweeted an hour beforehand inviting fans to meet them at the airport but were then whisked through. But these things happen and it's not as if fans were waiting for 12 hours to see them or something : I'm sure many people have gone to an airport only for the person to be delayed or not show up at all.

Fans should wise up and realise that it's not their God given right to have easy access to Jedward whenever they choose.

It's not really our choice though.

If the twins become internationally famous they won't be as accessible, that's it. Fans play little part in that to be honest.

I'm not so sure about that... it has often seemed the case that the twins, in their attempt to please their fans, back off of tough decisions. J&E are very attached to their fans. Almost too much so.

If they want to become internationally famous they'll have to extend the distance between them and their fans. If they do there nothing fans can do about it. They'll just have to deal xD

If that's the case they shouldn't rock the boat xD. That said I doubt half the fandom would just leave if they got partners, I'm sure they'll be loads of drama for a few weeks but it'll die down.

I agree that they may be a little insecure and that's why they hold their close relationship with their fans, but they should realise It's their life and they can do what ever they want and they should know that no matter what they do there will always be a bit of drama but it'll most definitely pass.

And this is why I think the twitcam tonight might actually be a positive thing... it really showed the completely selfish nature of some of their local fans. Not the girl who initiated the cam... she was really nice.

It was horrible to watch certain 'fandom famous' people make complete thuggish asses out of themselves... it was crazy, like watching a lynching mob...especially the dude who started the entire 'Tara was too drunk to leave the airport' shit. (and, yes, the twins know who he is)

In regards to twitcams, m&g's, signings... these are all fairly anonymous and equal... so it is definitely not a problem to continue doing these.

I have read tweets about this possessive behaviour exhibited by local fans for quite a while, but this is the first time I have personally witnessed it. I don't care how long these idiots have known J&E... they do not possess J&E and should not ever be allowed to think they do.

Ugh, that was the worst bit. There have been no reports from anywhere else about Tara's state. It's all come from that one fan. It's possible that a guard mistook Tara's laidback speech style (y'know how she talks?) for intoxication, but if it were me, I'd be skeptical about it, rather than start spreading rumours around Twitter.

It's interesting that they went to the trouble of apologising immediately through Tara's Twitter, so they're very concerned as to how they're coming across.

But the fans should also be apologising to the twins : it's not great that they had to read a load of negative stuff about the missed meeting.

They are indeed. Bless 'em, they really do need to try and learn how to separate the personal/friendships from the professional side. I'm sure they do try but it seems so hard for them now.

A big part of their appeal which has stemmed from the early days has been their accessibility, the way they treat their fans and so on. No showbiz dusting the fans of their shirts for them, no waving them by as they scurry through at airports or sit in VIP etc but this may change if the international exposure you mentioned before Pithy develops. Holidays in St Tropez with international jet setters, playboy bunnies, top designers etc...is certainly exposure!

I'm afraid this is just why I can't be bothered with twitter at the moment. I'm annoyed to be associated, however loosely, with these few unpleasant fans. I don't like that they think it is their right to be so nasty to the twins, clearly upsetting them in the process.

Yes yes and yes. Everything you said summed it all up for me. I wasnt upset with the twins last night, i was just shocked at everything going on around them. Like i said, the cam was a brilliant idea and was really fun to watch (to a point) but seeing the reactions on twitter really was something else.

That's the weird thing. While the Jeds personally don't drink, they've never condemned people who drink, probably because it's their friends and family who who do that.

I have a friend who was outside their hotel a few weeks ago and the twins came over and gave out to them for drinking wine..calling them losers and saying that they were boring for needing alcohol to have a good time....apparently the boys did seem in a bit of a strange mood!
However it does seem slightly double standardish to berate fans for having a drink then holidaying with someone like Tara!

Having said that, the only people who really know what happened last night are the people involved ( although I have no reason to doubt the person who tweeted the security persons words...she is a lovely lady and has no reason to tell tales) .
Personally I'm just concerned for the twins...it's not up to us to decide who they should or shouldn't hang out with, but perhaps there are better Hollywood stars they could befriend...Johnny Depp would be my choice ! Lol
