What should happen when Doctor Who ends?

if or when Doctor Who is eventually stopped how would you like it to end should they just end it with the Doctor continuing his journey or a cliffhanger or what?

any ideas

The episode should acts as an feectionate tribute to the shows history, maybe have a couple of old monsters or Doctors and should end with him dying (I mean propoerly dying) but with a glimmer of hope in the last few seconds, something to suggest that somehow the Doctor is actually alive but not tell us how, maybe a little like The Reichenbach Falls episode in Sherlock but only hint that he's alive rather than show us, ortherwise it'd be a massive cliffhanger and everyone would want it back (and while that would never be a bad thing, I never want it to to end, ever) and if we are talking about an ideal last episode, if it were to end, then it has to end properly. Any loos ends would have to be tied up and it should properly feel like the end of the journey, a bit like in Wedding of River Song, I'll actually be talking abouth this idea in my thread on the episode next week.

I do NOT want Cheetah people like in the last last episode. If it were to end then it would have to be a proper, fitting end to the show. Not just some normal story with a few sad lines of dialogue fit in at the end

Doctor Who the programme has already risen phoenix-like from its ashes once, so ending it finally and irrevocably isn't really a valid scenario.
Even if it was officially "ended" it could always rise again!

When this incarnation of the show dies, and it will do some day, they should end it in such a way as it can carry on some time in the future.

So something similar to the end of Survival with the Doctor and current companion(s) heading off for another adventure or in mid regeneration after the Doctor has saved the Universe yet again but has paid the price.

The Doctor in the TARDIS, next stop everywhere.

The end & most likely to be continued one day.

Though it would make sense to end while the Doctor of the time is regenerating - so they can pick it up with whoever they want to in the future

It's funny you should ask this, cos I always had an idea for the very end being the Tardis blowing up and the Doctor doing it on purpose (blowing it up) as some kind of way to save mankind from a joint peril from the Master and the Daleks.... however, the Moff has now blown the Tardis up already so it's back to the drawing board for me!!

Nobody should have the right to end Doctor Who, as each temporary manager is merely holding the torch for his own period.

Should the Beeb decide to pull the plug on this particular production, it should be simply left as an end of a series, perhaps as someone suggested a regeneration, allowing for another generation to pick up the torch and carry on at a future date

Doctor Who is like a national heirloom, as previous poster said, I don't feel anyone has the right to say "Well, this is it. Let's end Doctor Who for GOOD. FOREVER." either.
Can we please all agree to never end Doctor Who? Please? I don't want people to be deprived of Who goodness, that's a very sad thought.

But if it were to end then:

This but maybe where he goes away into another dimension type of thing, it'd be most sensible to have an ending that seems reasonably final but not so final they can't start it again later if they want to. I certainly don't think they should end it halfway through the regeneration because that would seem much too unfinished, like what they did with FlashForward.

agreed if and when the BBC decide to end the current series I just want to see it end like Survival did with the Doctor and companion walking off into the sunset.

It will end and start anew over and over and over again so none of the 'endings' have to be too momentous in my view.

My guess is that as long as there is tv there will be Doctor Who, interspersed with massive pauses of course.

Ood Sigma should pop up and say "This song is ending, but the story never ends...."

Doctor Who is like the Robin Hood or King Arthur/Merlin stories now; it's perennial. It will always come back.

Maybe he should "die" a true death and go to a heaven so he can be with the people he has loved and lost ?.Imortality which is what his regenerations give him is painfull. He has allready lived for a 1000 + years. One final battle and seeing he has made a difference. He could allways leave behind a "heir" of some kind to carry on his work like Jenny his daughter?. Plus he has allready inspired a lot of people to do good things.

The Doctor could go on a holiday, maybe on a cruise and then have a sign on the Tardis, 'Gone on Holiday, Back in...........'

I'm sure it will come to an end in a few years. But I'd like to see the Doctor saying goodbye to his faithful companions, and then returning to the Tardis....and simply saying "Here I go Again!!" No regeneration required. He can simply fly off into the universe.
A New Series will be made a few years later! Simples!

Maybe just show him regenerating and then a new incarnation flying in the Tardis. Never know, somebody could resurrect the show AGAIN.

As a tribute to one of the greatest classic who writers it should end at the restaurant at the end of the universe.
