I'm 31 and still watch Keenan and Kel now, it was an awesome slice of 90's pop culture.

Is it true?

Laurel and Hardy already did it.

So did Chucklevision.

It's hard to credit something wholly derivative as classic.

As a 00s kid born in 1992 I have never watched laurel and Hardy. And as for Chucklevision, I never remember laughing along with the show.

There's been double acts for eons, even before Laurel and Hardy.

Er, I was born in 1980, both L+H were dead long before then. Being born at a certain time does not preclude you from watching things before that era. Check them out, they're hysterical.

Who cares?

Laurel and Hardy was hardly ever going to relate with the majority of the teen audience that grew up watching great Nick shows like Kenan and Kel.

I didn't suggest Laurel and Hardy were more relatable. Just Kenan and Kel's act was done 80 years earlier and had been ripped off half a dozen times by the time they did decide to rip off the L&H slapstick routines only to set them in a convenience store. Kenan is Del Boy, Kel is Rodney, that recent enough of a similar duo for you? It's only down to ignorance of the masters and originators that this stuff can continue to be copied over time.

Also, seriously, how is ripping someone else off great? If I trace a classic work of art, I hardly deserve the credit Picasso got for just copying him.

Just in case someone asks, Keenan didn't die in a car crash. That was a rumour which circulated from a few years ago. I think I saw it mentioned on here once.

What a freaky coincidence. I am born the same year as you and just yesterday I had a nudge to watch this show again. I never knew it was on youtube so had a blast from the past watching it again, I came on here and found you had just started the thread....ooh great '90s mind think alike

Kel, not Keenan, was the rumoured car crash victim around these parts. I presume Kel is not dead either though.

There's something about 90s american tv stars and car crash rumors. There used to be one about Ben Savage from Boy Meets World as well

I used to watch Keenan and Kel when I was younger, used to enjoy it and thought it was the best thing on TV back then....when I watched it back recently on youtube, I thought it was boring, unfunny, wooden and rip-offs of everything in the past. It's awful looking back at it

Kel makes plenty of Youtube videos. He is alive and well

I feel for Jeff Goldblum. He seems to die every year falling off a cliff in New Zealand.
