PAYG Validity Vouchers

Ok, just wondering. Why do networks put validity periods on there PAYG top ups? The only reason I can think of is so they can end up getting more money as top-ups will have to be regular.

IS there any other reason than this?

3 in particular! Only a 30 day validity period. Whats the point in even going PAYG, youd be better off with a contract!
