Alexis Jordan's doing okay. People wrote off Rihanna who had a similar level of success in the early days. Rihanna took 3 years to launch to the level she's at now, as did Adele, and Amy Winehouse took longer I think!
It depends what proves to be popular. There's only so many places in the top 40 and new artists and established artists will always be competing for them. There's also a luck element because when writing an album or recording singles I guess no-one knows what the next big hit will be that everyone will try and imitate. The market, the buyers, in this case are a variable all to themselves. Something like TITANIUM, originally didnt make much of a chart impact when it was released last summer initially, and yet this year has become one of the biggest tracks around and its still in the charts. Its success has boosted Sia's career and by extension Flo Rida's from their shared song and its set off a whole chain of consequences as to what's popular. Things like this is what I find so interesting in the charts nowadays. Collaborations have changed the charts as much as digital downloads in the impact they have on promotion and raising awareness and success of an artist. |

Artists like Dev and Bruno Mars were able to launch solo careers because they were lucky enough to feature on a big hits (Like a G6 and Nothin' On You, Billionaire). Keri Hilson also got to launch a solo career because The Way I Are was so massive. There's so many examples of this, I could go on forever. The only thing I disagree with is the Alexis Jordan/Rihanna comparison. Pon de Replay, SOS and Unfaithful were all very big hits, both in the US and the UK, and much bigger than anything Alexis has released so far. |

I am an old rocker and have to say that the artists you mentioned are simply flavour of the month at the moment. Their music has plenty of style, but lacks substance. This type of music is all about fashion and current trends and as such will have a short term impact but no longevity
For some reason rock music seems to last much longer and sell in greater numbers than the current fashion concious bands. Take a look at the bands that will sell out huge venues on a regular basis around the globe. The majority are rock bands who have been about for 15 years plus, AC/DC, Springsteen,U2, Metallica Basically if you have the music, the musicianship and the years of working hard at your act you will be around for years unlike many of todays current acts |

I still think Alexis Jordan will be a huge superstar in the next 3-4 years.

SOS and Unfaithful were off Rihanna's second album so it's too early to comapre the two just yet. Although, Alexis is yet to have anything big in the US so far.

![]() Here was me thinking Swede's only exported Volvo's! But I will concede that I had no idea that this Agnes was a Swede, and if you think she'd be happy to remain simply huge in Sweden on a music sales and profile level, having had a tiny taste of success elsewhere, well her ambitions would be modest if that was to be the case. Apart from Abba, Roxette, Loreen, and this Agnes person, can you name me 10 other Swedish acts that have had meaningful UK success out of curiosity, and that is not designed to catch you out, but genuine, as you seem to have a little Swedish music knowledge. |

I guess the Rihanna comparison comes from the fact she was regarded as very much a lightweight, and even post-Umbrella, a lightweight who got lucky with a one-hit wonder.
Pretty sure not all Rihanna's songs were instant hits either. Although I wasnt meaning to suggest that Alexis Jordan will reach Rihanna-levels of success. Having said that her collab with Sean Paul, Got 2 Luv U, was huge in Europe from what I've heard, so perhaps its too early to write her off as a lightweight too... |

Hopefully Eliza Doolitle will be back later this year or early next year. As for Pixie Lott, i believe she is currently working on her 3rd album so she will be back. |

Not only do artists who have chart success `disappear` due to the making of albums but also they`re off modelling, doing their own fashion/make up range, making films, doing tv...(Pixie Lott,Plan B,VV Brown, the Noisettes,Ordinary Boys,Ollie Murs...).
What`s happened to Mr Hudson though? |
