Component IN on newer TVs
i had to feed in a Composite signal into a Samsung 26TV yesterday..The Plugin cables show that for AV IN one plugs the Composite into the Green Channel..
Will this always work or do Samsung do something special? |

It won't work in general (the composite signal requires different processing than a green component signal), so yes, Samsung have done something special. Other manufacturers may do the same special thing, of course!

Most sets have now dropped Composite input sockets (just like SCART is disappearing), but utilise one of the Component input sockets as a Composite input - switching between the two types depending which you are using.
I've no idea if there's an agreed standard for which socket they use?, but it's clearly explained in the instructions. |

Thank you both..THe huge range catered for in Video quality caught my mind..I guess it would be interesting to see if other makers used the RED input perhaps.. or if a Standard has emerged without BSI/DIN etc postulating that GREEN would always be used..perhaps leaving the other inputs for other use as technology advances..Home security/Mobile phones etc..
