Having the entire sports channels through other operators would work out cheaper in the long run.”

Many people are quite happy paying little and often as they don't realise what they're actually spending over time.

For all those who go into coffee shops and spend a couple of quid every day, it doesn't seem a lot. If they were asked to pay sixty quid a month for the same, they'd say it's a rip off.

Nope. Just the debit card, then it says that you will be charged after the 30 days trial if you decide to keep your subscription.
Are u based in the UK ?

The monthly tickets were barely advertised at all, and the website is an absolute maze - I couldn't work out how to sign up (I was curious how much I could pay to access Sky Atlantic). Now TV lets them actually talk about IPTV for non-Sky folk in a consistent way.

Incidentally, I think the pricing is crazy, and I'll be sticking to Netflix

Yes but it's clearly trying to deduct £15 from my account which hardly suggests a no-obligation free trial.

No they don't try to charge you. They make a verification to be sure you entered a real credit card number (and a supported card number). It's very common, many websites with subscription like NowTV do the same thing.

Reading the now tv forum posts, £15 actually is put in limbo then returned in a few days, Which i think is misleading. I would suggest people read the now tv forum posts before committing themselves.

Have you subscribed to the service ?
Not sure...

It's written clearly, after entering the credit card number that the credit card hasn't been charged but will be after the free month. They may say something different on the forum, but not during the subscription process so...

Ah so you do need to pay £15 to sign up, even if it's 'returned' after a few days?

Whether the £15 goes to Sky to be returned or goes into 'limbo' to be returned - it still makes a nonsense of calling it a 'free trial' as it means I have to pay for it for a few days, albeit I'll be getting reimbursed later on.

Not quite sure what you're on about but plenty of people have reported that £15 has been deducted from their account. Returned a few days later or not, it shouldn't need any more than your card details to verify your age etc... absolutely no need to take money for the trial.

Personally I'd rather wait until the beta testing is done and it's rolled out across all platforms before I try it.

I never said it was right to be charged for verification, and like I said before, when you subscribe, it written clearly that you are not charged until the end of the free trial... What can I say more? I subscribed, they give me informations that I relay here because someone asked.
If a website tells you that you won't be charged for anything you don't go verify that information don't you?

I'm sorry for the people who have been charged of the £15 and Sky knows it's absolutely not a normal thing to do.

I've been screaming for many years that I would pay for bits of Sky sports - as long as the fee didn't include all the stuff I don't want (eg Premiership football)> So this would seem to be the perfect way to watch a test match, or just one day, without feeling that 80% of the sub is subsidising Wayne Rooney's Bentley. Even though it probably is.

For me, PAYG is the way to go, and I'm deffo interested in any sport (proper sport, not men running around in tights and Alice-bands chasing pig's bladders...!) as long as the price is right.

However - looking at the Now website, what a cheap amateurish mess it is! Can't fathom how to use it, is it a monthly sub for films, weekly, daily, pay-per-film??? Maybe I need a longer look, but it strikes me that many, like me, who would quite happily pay for their sport as-and-when, may well find it easier just to carry on viewing in the company of Mr. S. Opcast.

Anyway, as and when sport becomes available, I'll have a proper look.

EDIT - I've just spent 5 minutes browsing, and it's not as difficult as I thought. I hadn't moved my cursor into the film (Perhaps they should make that clear...ooops!)
You can either PAYG or have a monthly sub which you can cancel at any time (good) but it's unclear as to how you cancel. Once you make a sub will there by a "my account" section where you have the option to click and cancel or do you have to telephone in? If it's click-and-cancel (like Eurosport) then I'm in. Any telephoning then I'm out, well out.

To cancel it you just have to turn off the auto renewal option in your account settings

It really is a badly designed website, I don't like the way that Movies Pass and PPV stuff is all mixed in, changing from one line to the next.. They really need to make more effort.

That being said, as soon as they add Atlantic, Living, Arts content then I will certainly consider cancelling my Sky TV subs and using Now TV, as long as there's a 'pass' option for that stuff too and not just PPV.. Time will tell.

I wonder what the charges will be for the entertainment content ?

I doubt they'll offer Sky 1, Atlantic, Living and Arts for less than the basic package costs. Also, lack of HD will put many subscribers off.

PPV for top shows will be the big selling point for Freeview/Freesat viewers.

Yes but the basic Sky package (entertainment) from September is £21.50 , I'd be amazed if Sky thought they could charge that for the five channels you mention , don't forget the entertainment pack contains many other channels from different broadcasters.

According to Sky , HD will arrive on Now TV as will bookmarking on devices , something Netflix already has.

I signed up to nowtv this evening. The choice is great, the only problem I have encounted is film freezing every few minutes and the lip sync being out. Anybody else have this problem.

I've just signed up for the trial and the same is happening to me. I'm watching on my Xbox and the film keeps freezing - it's really annoying.

A Now TV App (if it goes ahead I guess it'll be for Windows Phone 8) is "under consideration". You can show your support by voting/"like"/"kudos" and comment at
