Question 1 was How do you feel about the possible end of Chryed?

Everyone had to aswer, the breakdown was:

Devastated, it can never happem, my life will be over 7.6%
Sad, but I'll get over it 59.1%
OK with it - que sera sera and all that 12.1%
Happy as this year has been pants and they deserve better 19.7%
Meh, couldn't care less either way 1.5%

Most took the pragmatic approach.
No one voted for the 'ecstatic' option

(((((Hugs))))) to all those who think their life will be over. I'm sure we'll all be here to help each other get over it when/if it happens. And the end of Chryed may mean the start of something else (better?) for Marc and Johnny so it's not all bad.

I've been rewatching some past episodes recently as well.

I really love the 8 March 2012 episode--the one with the start of the Zainab/Christian reconciliation. Very moving. :sleep:

On another topic, I've seen several people here mention that EE probably doesn't have the courage to take on Islamophobia. I believe you, but I'm curious to know what your thoughts are about that.

Question 3 was the evil Assuming the majority want a happy ending, but if they dont both leave together, what do you want?

I think I made it so you had to answer this.

60.6 % (40 of 66 people) took the option which is the only one that works for me: Death - it's the only thing that can separate them

24.2% (16 people) chose Still in love but cant be together (eg Christian has to go to the US, Syed cant go with him coz of Yasmin). Which is fluffy but I cant accept it as an ending unless it had one leave and the other lave no more than a few months later to go after them. I dont believe Christian would ever move away from Syed for anyone else (even his parents or Jane), he'd bring them to Syed. And if Syed had to move to be nearer Yasmin I think Christian would just go with, so for me it's not a very realistic option!

NO ONE wanted another break up (hear that TPTB?!)
And the (unacceptable in my opinion!)
Drifing a part, too many obstacles and differences (4.5%), Falling out of love, too many arguments they decide to call it quits (3.0%) and One of them finds a new love interest/cheating/affair/horrifcness (3.0%) got only 7 votes in total. I thinik any of those as an ending woudl be a disservice to the original story, but I guess a few people out there see it as an option..... maybe those that cant handle the death idea?

I really don't think I can handle death. I know in theory it's the right option to choose if they can't have a happy ending, but I just can't handle the thought. All the options are terrible though, want to cry just thinking about it

Everyone answered, and again, shockingly, it was very skewed in one direction!

For now I'd settle for just a mention of their wedding/engagement. So many others have got engaged (tried to) tie the knot or talked about weddings since our boys last did .
And our boys are proper in love, plus it's a unique opportunity for EE, so surely, SURELY it has to happen, right?

Q5 was a bit of a weird one, asking Has the terrible lack of screentime in 2012 changed your feelings about the end of Chryed?

2 declined to answer, but for the rest, the breakdown was as follows:

No - I always wanted it to end this year 3.1%
No - I still want them in EE for ever and ever 34.4%
Yes - I used to want them to stay forever, now they're taking the piss, Johnny and Marc deserve better 42.2% (27 people)
Yes - it's clear TPTB dont care/have no ideas, so end it now 10.9%
Yes - I used to want them to go, but I feel short changed so now I want them to stick around longer and get their time in the sun again 9.4%

My conclusion from this is that the majority (> 60%) are pissed off with what's happened to Chryed and not impressed with the way TPTB at EE have handled things and probably dont believe it will ever get better/go back to how it was. I went with the majority and want Chryed gone so we dont have this agonising waiting, and ever decreasing expectations and before they are ruined further (cheating).

It's not a good sign for EE that they've done this to one of their most enduring fan bases, but we are small fish in the giant pond off EE viewers so I doubt they care or take notice (despite people thinking the contarary!), but it's still a shame

Ooops, forgot there were a few comments to Q5. Here they are:

Don't want them to go but don't want them ruined either and the longer they stay the longer it seems that their storyline / characters will be ruined so if leaving means that doesn't happen then so be it.

No, i still want them in the show for the foreseeable future. It's just frustrating when their potential is being wasted.

I think of the two Marc has been the one who has been treated appalling this year. At least Johnny has had more appearences this year and he had panto last year. So I used say if Marc left I wouldn't blame. He deserves better

Personally, I think it would be brilliant if EE had a really long-term couple who were solid and didn't cheat and dealt with all the drama TPTB could throw at them together and united. If that couple was also gay and had a complex family dynamic (ie Chryed) then that would be extra brilliant. However, I no longer trust TPTB to do this, and if they stay I can only see more wasted potential and cheating/break-up storylines. I would prefer them to get one more big story then leave together for a happy future.

I think EE could tackle Islamophobia, but they can't please everyone. I don't think they'd want to victimise Syed or Zainab so soon after the homophobia and domestic violence storylines. Same could apply to Tamwar, but they didn't make much of a deal about his burns. It would be very interesting if they did the storyline with Masood, he seems very proud and might not admit it. Plus with his post round it would be easy for him to be harrassed in public.
