Move on.”

Ok do the maths one team sits top of the spl, last 16 of the biggest club competition in european football playing the cream of the crop, in both domestic cups and just celebrated its 125 birthday. The other team play in the 4 teir of scottish football out of 2 cups one of them being the ramsdens cup which is if you like the champions league for lower teams, and they haven't even celebrated there first birthday they have no honours as they are a new club, so to sum up we all no who the biggest club in scotland is don't we?

My lot?, well i dont have a fellowship to relate to, speaking from a personal perspective i am glad no one has gone under yet, ANY football team going under is bad for the game in general.

I was going to pop in and say well done last week, but after the snide comments about rangers in every post from "your lot", i changed my mind and backed off.

rangers is very much on the minds of every celtic fan, one eye on CL, the other on Rangers, no eyes left for the SPL.

Obsessed i tell you.

Only a brain donor would be of that opinion.

A fan of The Rangers made some claims, those claims were made to look completely foolish.

Still pretending not to be a fan of The Rangers.

I also agree with some of the others. Rangers are in division 3, why do some celtic fans want to talk about them so much? They will be back in the top division soon enough and win the title, so calm down and just wait.

Rangers has a massive fan base, so this is no surprise really. Its a bit embarrassing for the SPL clubs though.

How is it embarrassing for the SPL clubs? Its completely and totally irrelevant. Motherwell V Aberdeen and St Johnstone V St Mirren will get the same attendance regardless of what league Rangers are in. These games werent suddenly going to get 25,000 fans just because Rangers are no longer there. Rangers fans couldnt have given a toss about those figures for the last hundred years but all of a sudden they have become the benchmark for the declining standards of a league they arent in? Theres only one group of fans obsessed with goings on that dont concern them!

Thats what I dont understand. Whether its low attendances, clubs with debts or the standard of the SPL being poor, none of this is to do with Rangers being dead and the newco being in div 3.

I find it laughable that they seem to be happy with all whats wrong with the SPL and use it as some sort of badge of honour as if everything was all fine and dandy when the club rangers were in the SPL.

It really is a bit pathetic seeing some vengeful folk actually looking as if they want to see clubs in distress in the SPL, and then wanting to claim it's all down to ditching them from the SPL, however irrelevant and tenuous that may be.

And anyway not ditching them at all. The oldco ditched themselves, then the SPL made the fairly logical decision not to adnit a newco withn unknown accounts.

I'm afraid for the tme being one club just doesn't matter anything like as much as they want everyone to believe.

BBC Scotland to show Raith v Celtic.

Which has triggered much rage on the Sportsound Facebook page by 1) The Rangers fans who don't realise Sky are already showing their game and 2) Hibs/Aberdeen fans who think a run-of-the-mill SPL game is tie of the round.

I can see the Hibs/Aberdeen fans' point.

But I suppose even BBC Scotland has to try to chase the ratings.

So the Scottish cup live games are:

Dundee United v Geoffrey Boycott - Sat 2nd Feb - Sky Sports
Raith v Celtic - Sun 3rd Feb - BBC
Hibs v Aberdeen - Sun 3rd Feb - Sky Sports.

But Hibs v Aberdeen will happen four times already this season. On one hand people complain that the SPL is repetitive, but then are outraged when the TV companies overlook an all-SPL tie in the Cup.

Raith v Celtic is a classic cup tie - First Division at home to SPL, with a chance of an upset (just look back to Clyde, Inverness etc.).

In Hibs v Aberdeen, there's no upset - it's likely either side could win. The only reason Sky are going with it is because none of the other ties offer much.

Or back to Raith in the League Cup final all those years ago.

18 years ago too remember it like it was yesterday.

Just to depress folk even more you probably have to be over 21 now to remember Scotland in a World Cup Finals

Strange that every time the Old Firm were drawn against each other in the cup it ended up on TV. Surely they should have been showing the likes of St Mirren vs Cowdenbeath all these years instead given the greater chance of an upset...

It's solely about chasing the bigger support base. There's nothing wrong with that, but let's not pretend it's some grand noble effort to show classic cup ties.

There's a difference between a derby and a "run-of-the-mill SPL game". That's why there was little objection to Ross County v ICT and Hibs v Hearts in the previous round.

If it was about chasing the big support based, Celtic v Arbroath would have been shown in the previous round. But it wasn't because, ex-ante, it offered little as a cup tie.
