3-0 Good result good performance need to keep it going all season and prove we might just keep the season going.

We don't usually win first games as well

I think a long season of struggles again for Hibernian

Surely both Russell and Mackay-Stevens will be in the Scotland squad tomorrow but I wouldn't bank on it

Absolutely fantastic display from Dundee United today. Totally outclassed Hibs in every area of the pitch and the only disappointment was that the score-line could have been far more.

Despite being a harsh critic of Houston in the past he continues to bring through a seemingly never ending production line of players who are comfortable on the ball and can play. We have had numerous players of note leave over the last 2 years yet we seem to have the replacement ready and waiting to go.

Scotland could do a lot worse than base the team round some of these boys.

I also owe Jill an apology for doubting Houston in the first place! She was right and i was hopelessly wrong!

Think you could challenge for the title? I hope so, as it would be good to have some competition this season with Rangers gone. I think Celtic will win it, but Dundee Utd look favourites for 2nd place.

No, not really.

On a game by game basis - yes, without a doubt. However over the course of a season we will be inferior. I don't think Celtic are THAT good but if you gave us level points with 5 games to go i'd still back the hoops to see it out.

Id love to make you work for it though!!

You have a 2 goal advantage already, at least that helps!

With Celtic v Dundee United postponed for the friendly next week, they don't meet till early November. It will interesting to see what the league looks like by then.

I noticed Premier Sports is taking the United second leg on Thursday at 5pm now. Still a big ask but you never know

Trust me, Celtic are not a great team and you don't have a great manager. If we (or anyone else, Hearts?) managed to put you under any sort of pressure you are the worst equipped Celtic team to deal with it.

That said, you are the best team in Scotland so you will win the league at a canter.......

5-1 win over the shire, a good performance probably only playing in 2nd gear. Goals from Mark McLaughlin, Peter Weatherson, Stephen Stirling, Tony Wallace and Michael Tidser.

The east Stirling subs were taking a bit of banter from the Morton fans so started hitting shots into the crowd.

Realistically, I think United (or anyone else) will do well to be within 20 points of Celtic by the end of the season.

I wouldn't deny that.

On any given day i think Hearts and United will give Celtic a game though.

We can and probably will be beaten over the course of the season - for everyone it's all about consistency.

Thats the problem. Id go into a game vs Celtic and be happy that we could match you over 90 mins.

Over 9 months we don't have a chance.

Doesn't mean we won't give it a go though!

Rank rotten...........up against the 2nd best team in the league, didn't agree with the line up. Although poor I feel there are a few positives. We definitely need to strengthen a bit more, a proper number 9 would be a start. We can't knock balls up to Doyle and Griffiths and expect them to win them in the air.

Also what a magnificent save from our new number 1 Williams to deny Daly in the first half. Exceptional save!!

Opening round results/table of predictor up in the morning guys.

So the rumours in the press suggest Danny fox is going to be called up again, this is surely the final nail in Craig levein's coffin if true

With rangers gone. Is the league better off or worse off baring in mind that rangers were celtic`s only challenger?
