Hell of a rumour on Aberdeen Mad:

Quote:
“Rangers have withdrawn their application/membership to the SFL. Seemingly the board are still in a meeting in at a hotel in Edinburgh and a big announcement expected tomorrow at 11am.”

So what does that now mean for Scottish Football are they pulling out o fthe league
Mark.

If NewCo Rangers pull out, then either:

1) The SFL have a hurried application process (unlikely)
2) They give Brechin a bye in the Challenge Cup and run SFL3 with 9 teams, paying compensation for the loss of two home games. A new club will then be voted in next year (more likely)

Is this the end game for the Rangers name or are they wanting to play in another League or Country if this goes ahead

I think you should take anything posted about Rangers on an Aberdeen forum with a large pinch of salt ...

Afterall I think Aberdeen were going out of business not so long ago - as posted on some forums.

Should have just gave the league place to Spartans

Obviously I'm not an expert on Scottish football being in England, but if Rangers play in division 3 wouldnt that give a big boost to the other teams in the divison?

They would get bigger attendances, more revenue & would up their game to try to beat Rangers. Would this be correct?

well, from what i know at this point is this .....

SEVCO SCOTLAND want to transfer the old contract, from RANGERS FC, with the SFA to nuRANGERS ..... but if they do all those penalties will come into effect (whatever they are)

OR

not be registered with the SFA and not play at all!

.....

now, to the lamen it would seem that this would be a foregone conclusion, and take the penalties, but the problem would be the actual contract, right?

can they do this, as it has no relevance to the new club?

considering the size of stadia they would go to, probably full houses, you might be right ..... but turn it to nuRANGERS home games and you might not get many away fans coming to ibrox

the season ticket numbers are going to be much less though

I read some time ago that Green's consortium had prepared for a number of outsomes, including playing in SPL and playing in Division 3. One other option was not playing in the leagues at all but operating in the same way as the Harlem Globetrotters in the States. I assume that would mean playing a series of big draw games throughout the season - perhaps against other major club sides from around the world.
Could this rumour mean this is happening. If so, how would it impact on Scottish football?

How much of a draw to major club sides would Lee McCulloch and 10 youth team players actually be? No top player is going to sign up for a handfull of games in a year.

Charles Green is flying to Zurich in order to thrash out a deal with Uefa for the oldco European club debts.

only problem is that Uefa are based in Nyon.

Shouldn't that be D & P's job, as administrators?

As expected, Tv deal will need renegotiated. LINK

Looking at the SFL1 fixtures and in a 10 team league there are 4 new sides. Airdrie Utd, Cowdenbeath, Dumbarton and Dunfermline. I think it could make a good exciting promotion race and an exciting fight to avoid the drop. I would quite fancy Falkirk or Livi for promotion.

dumbarton and airdrie will be favourites for the drop, cant see either challenging anybody.

morton are building a decent squad but think the best we can hope for is probably mid table, think we will be safe from relegation. we beat Kilmarnock 4-1 at Cappielow last night.

Would think Falkirk, now that Dundee are in the SPL, are probably favourites.

Would be great if we could have an SFL highlights package too, could be a competitive division.

On Hibs transfer news we are trying to strike a deal to sign Alan Maybury, he played in our win v East Fife. Unfortunately we don't have the funds for it. Season ticket sales not great this season. Also Griffiths has been told he's no longer needed at Wolves so would probably welcome him back. He'd be a gamble signing though, one strike and he should be out the door. He's the type to cause unrest but equally the type to fire in 20 goals for us.

so the deal that hasn't been signed is being torn up.

I expect the current deal to be extended for the same amount of money.

SFA to investigate McCoist's JP comments once the current issues are sorted.

Like yourself i'm not an expert on Scottish Football but think the average attendance in division 3 is around 500 maybe lower, whilst it won't make a difference to when Rangers play at home, Rangers would prob get a lower attendance due to lack of away fans, i expect Rangers to fill out grounds when there away.

Rangers no longer exist. When the fans of this new club turn up, and I have no doubt it will be in large numbers, then the cost of policing will be increased for the home clubs which will offset some of the additional money taken.

When do we expect to actually come out the other side of this whole affair Do we believe that it will be resolved before the start of this season, next season, or could the knock on effect be seen for years yet?

They would feel at home playing in Northern Ireland.

That's one of the reasons why i'm not an expert on Football things North of the border just a passing intrerest.

But yep Policing costs would offset some of the extra money the other clubs gain. but at least Newco Rangers will get to play in a Glasgow derby at Hampden, even if it it against Queens Park.
