You are right. there
was no legal requirement for them to pay.
However, that changed when the SPL agreed to the deal that both it and the SFA would jointly pay the debt owed, payment to come from the money that was originally intended to Rangers as prize money.
If that deal hadnt been done then you are right, the SPL would not need to pay, but now they agreed to do so, they must honour that.
If Dundee had did what other scottish clubs did, and just wait and see what happens, rather than trying to get the money from the spl, they would have had the money direct from Rangers last week.
The SPL is shafting Dundee over this, now Dundee are seeing other clubs getting the money they are owed from rangers, they want theirs.
But they are looking in the wrong place, the SPLm owe the money, not Rangers.
The SPL is in serious trouble here, it cant even afford to pay Dundee united the 30k its owed, never mind the SFL the millions it owes to them.
