We had several rounds of Mexican waves, a warm up and 5 points! Still we got seats right next to the court - albeit for all of 15 minutes

Seriously, I'm getting incredibly peed off the way they keep treating Kvitova. A women's singles quarter-finals - one with the last year's Wimbledon champion - should take precedence over a mixed doubles first round match. I don't care if it's Murray and Robson, that doubles match was scheduled for Court 18 this evening, they could've and should've put that on Court 2 instead. All quarter-final matches should be on a showcourt.

Give Kvitova the show court, and put a BBC stream on for Murray/Robson on 2 or 3, everybody's happy? Or do they just want to avoid a situation like yesterday, Vika playing to an empty court, and everyone crowding onto a smaller court to see Serena and Venus? |

I'd love to know the logic behind giving Wozniaki more Centre Court appearances this tournament than Federer though, I really would... ![]() Quote:
I doubt it - Serena certainly, I think she'll take the gold, but Maria will be lucky to medal. I'd guess at a Serena v Petra final personally, depending on whether Petra keeps her game up or not... Quote:
At least Petra is on Court 2 and not 14... |

Managed to get a centre court seat (up in the rafters) and had a great time watching Nole and Andy both win (eventually!). And then the real fun began venturing onto the outside courts: saw the end of Isner vs Tipsy on a half empty court 2 - Serbian fans on one side and Team USA on the other side. Due to the lack of stewards some young girls started running around the back of the court right in Tipsy's eyeline as he was serving at a crucial time. He blurted out 'seats please' - and if looks could kill! An amazing (14-12?) tiebreak then ensued with Isner won.then spent about 30 mins watching Juan Martin del Potro play mixed doubles with a crowd of mad Argie fans in the stands - something I doubt I will ever see again. They were overjoyed when he and Dulko beat the Russians. then (due to the awful singles scheduling) stood around court 14 watching Nishikori and Ferrer who still hadnt finished their match which had been due to take place on court 1. At 5-4 in the third and 5 minutes to nine they called' play is suspended' due to the fading light. Security then marched both players out - nearly knocking me over as Ferrer brushed past. We thought all was over for the night - and then people started running into centre court as the match was being transferred there under the roof. About 200 of us 'crammed' in in the front rows on a sit where you like basis - a mixture of Japanese, mad Brits and Spaniards. I was sat between some eccentric British ladies on a Thomas cook package and two Japanese fans taking pictures. Cue mexican waves - then the two players appeared at 10 past nine and by 9.25pm it was all over as Ferrer lost his serve and the match. I doubt I will ever experience quite another day like it watching tennis - it was as close as you could get to chaos at Wimbledon!

Roof closed on centre court even though there is play on the outside courts.
Maybe a forecast of showers to come. |

Murray's serve is pretty impressive today, in fact his whole game is. Almagro throwing a tantrum.

Murray's ball striking was pretty incredible there, it's a pity not that many people will have seen it on TV. He hit 81% first serves as well. Ok Almagro had some problems, but still.

Vika through despite the netcord coming to Kerber's assistance twice on match point (after which Vika hit the ball away in anger, risking disqualification if it had iunjured someone).

Serena's already a break up on Wozniacki, this might not take long...
ETA: Make that a double break, Caroline hasn't won a game yet... |

For me, the Azarenka-Kerber match has been the best of the tournament so far. It was such a high quality match and some of the rallies were outstanding, such great tennis by both players. I'm disappointed it didn't go to a final set but I'm happy for Vika, even though I was hoping Angie could win it. She can hold her head up high though, she didn't go out easily and is a great fighter.
Great day for tennis coverage, especially if you like the doubles. All 5 courts are being televised so lots of tennis to watch today. |

What's the reason people seem to dislike Azarenka?
From what I've seen she seems like one of the better characters off the court. I know she is noisy but it seems the dislike of her goes beyond that. |

Wozniacki is so frustrating the way she only starts to play well when she's coming from behind!

Her attitude is terrible. Also her grunt (which doesn't bother me) annoys a lot of people, and she remains completely indignant about it.

I don't dislike her as such, but the amount of favouritism and publicity she gets despite not being a great player is astonishing. She's good when she's on form, but not great (I reserve that label for the likes of Clijsters and Serena), and she really should have taken one of her Grand Slam chances, that's what's let her down badly in terms of reputation. That and the fact that her form is so topsy-turvy, even in one match, but that can be said of a lot of players these days, even the better ones like Sharapova...
