In the Wednesday 25th episode...

Tamwar informs Masood that he is thinking of going back to university and giving the restaurant to him and Zainab. However, this is bad news for Masood because he has just been offered an interview for a teaching assistant position. Masood keeps quiet over his news, but his anxiety grows as Zainab seems keen to take over the business - believing that it will help her to fund the biggest wedding Walford has ever seen. To Masood's dismay, Tamwar makes his final decision - he's going back to university and wants his parents to have the restaurant.
So do you think we will hear an exit from EE for Tawmar in the future?

Aw. I like Tamwar even though he's been underused recently-so much for the storyline where he was meant to come to terms with his burns. But if he's going to university can't it be a local one where he doesn't have to be written out? Just a thought.

Why would Himesh be leaving just because Tamwar is going to University?

Libby Fox went to Oxford and still managed to be in Walford as much as she always had been.

He didn't get the grades for Oxford last time and never repeated the year as far as I can remember. With the new fees, I'd anyway expect him to look at universities where he can live at home to avoid living costs - theefore a London uni, although he'd have to wait until next year.
I think he will be staying at EastEnders, no doubt as a background figure, as usual.

I never was quite convinced that the EE writers know how the university application process worked. Just because he never got the grades for Oxford/Cambridge, through the 'clearing' process he could have gone to just about any other uni in the UK that would be happy to have an Oxbridge candidate who barely missed out on the grade, but it seemed like Tamwar just gave up completely.

Oxford and Cambridge are the only universities that exist in Eastenders. It fits in with their pattern of people either being total super-'nerds' or complete reprobates.

He did retakes but got grades even lower than he originally had and decided he didn't want to go to uni.

Haha, very true! As already mentioned in this thread, he could have a storyline about going to one of the London universities (some of which are the best in the country outside Oxbridge) and live at home, and still have a decent enough part in EE.

There's so much scope here it's nuts to write him out. He'd be the perfect person to do a story about so-called 'study-aid' pep pills. Like his part-time job at the restaurant means he ends up studying all night and taking pep pills to keep himself awake. That stuff can lead to short-term and long-term health problems. Although that story doesn't involve Kat sleeping with anyone so it might not make good viewing.

Poor Masood. I'm still hoping that Syed and Christian volunteer to help run the Argee Bargee so that he can follow his dreams. This would give them some much needed airtime.
I hope Tamwar doesn't leave.

I would hope that if TPTB where going to get rid of him (or he had quit) then they would have just written him out when Afia left...

what happened to Mas retraining?

I'm not happy about this. I really wanted Masood to go for his dreams. Also if the teaching assistant position a paid one?

That actually does good, being a student can be bloody stressful. In hindsight it shouldn't be, but I for one would work myself in a right old state: having insomnia, tears over essays and exams, not seeing any of my friends for weeks at a time, I began to become a bit of a nightmare to live with during term team but my parents were always really supportive and saw the bigger picture.

Lucy should be going to uni in September (but with the Ian's breakdown aftermath storyline is coming up, I doubt she is) as she is in her last year of her A-Levels and she is 17. The only exam she was doing from what I remember was a Economics A-Level exam.

Also I have had another thought, Tamwar should give Argee Bargee to Syed. I mean with his failing business he could drop that and take over the restaurant.

Oh yes, why not. We haven't had a Muslim doing drugs yet.

But would Zainab be as supportive? Beyond being able to say "Oh, my son is in university studying to become a [X]!", would she put up with a student under pressure from university and a family business? Or would she try and get him to 'pull his weight'? You could imagine her saying "Fine, if you want to stay home and study, then you look after Kamil while we work".

I hope it doesn't sound offensive but I ensure that Muslims in my college have done drugs so if EE do a storyline like that it would reflect a real life situation.
