The success stories and the failures...

reality tv does churn them out.
The success stories?

Tier 1 - the groundbreaking success type - the ones that will be seen as the success stories 10 years on
1. One Direction (international success like crazy!! too much to name)
2. Susan Boyle (3 albums worth of international success)
3.Leona Lewis (debut international succèss - who knows about now)
4.Girls Aloud (taking Credit for Cheryl too, no international, 6 platinum albums and sell out tours & singles)
5. Will Young (6 platinum albums, respected, over 8 million record sales, all studio albums no.1 or no.2, sell tours)

Tier 2 - successful but limited/had big success
1. JLS (sell out tours, albums although declining)
2. Olly Murs (continued UK success, two very successful albums, some international)
3. Jedward (Europe success, made millions you name it!)
4. Cher Lloyd (moderate UK success, some USA)
5. Rebecca Ferguson (some UK success 500k album)
6 Alexandra Burke (very successful debut although flopping now)
6. G4 (very successful but now dropped)
7. Paul Potts (very successful but now dropped - just one album)

Tier 3 - some success 'a few knock backs' but still going (but could drop to Tier 4 anyway)
1. Kym Ryder (somehow she is still on our screens today)
2. Shayne Ward (very successful debut year, then declined now musicals)
3. Stravos Flately (very successful live career)
4 Diversity (very successful TV and live career)
5. Darius (12 yrs on our screens, musicals, Popstar to Operastar, debut album and single successful
5. Myleene Klass (some amazing ad deals, albums, presenting, OK profile)
6. Gareth Gates (10yrs and in multiple musicals today)
6. Stacey Solomon (very liked, autobiography, ads, very good profile, won I'm a celeb)
7. Joe McElderry (won 2 reality shows, 3 gold albums, some live stuff)
8. Spellbound (some limited live stuff)
9. Diana Vickers (no.1 album, no.1 single, Very deals, theatre & award)
10. Rhydian (released three albums, moderate success, some live stuff)
11. Matt Cardle (only 260k selling album, some live stuff, dropped who knows about after)
12. Mary Byrne (1 successful album & book, recent album flopping)
13. Suzanne Shaw (Emmerdale) & Noel Sullivan (Theatre stuff)
14. Aiden Grimshaw (just got a deal...who knows)! could go up or down

Tier 4 - basically failed eventually the 'dumper'
Leon Jackson, Ray Quinn, Andy Abraham, Connnie Talbot, George Sampson, Signature, Maria Lawson, Ben Mills, Ronan Parke, Jai McDowall, The McDonald Brothers, Eoghann, Hearsay, Liberty X, One True Voice, The Cheeky Girls, Clea, Phixx, Brenda Edwards, Sarah Whatmore, Zoe Birkett, Rik Waller, Rosie Ribbons, Marcus Collins

tell me if i've forgetton anyone...
Where do you think Mischa, Amelia, Marcus and Little Mix will register

I think Marcus is in tier 4 already
Mischa will go in to tier 2-3 and stay there for abit
Amelia also tier 2-3 and stay there for abit
Little Mix will have their debut year at tier 2 i believe

Who is about to slip tiers or climb back up, upto now Alex was tier 1.
I think Mary and Aiden will be tier 4 by the end of the year. Joe will be tier 4 by 2 years. What about this years BGT lot?

Personally don't see how Olly Murs is a success story along the same lines as Girls Aloud. JLS too still have a lot to do. Leona is gifted but had one song essentially.

ALso, rebecca Ferguson in tier 2??

When all is said and done, and when we look back in ten years or whatever, I think Cher Lloyd, One D, Girls Aloud will be the only real success stories to come out of reality tv in the UK

Olly has 2 double platinum albums that just continue selling with him maintaining his spot of Xtra factor support and some international sales i think it's safe to say hes got another 2 years at the very least. Cowell likes him, i think his success at this level will continue for a few more years at least.

Cher LLloyd has alot of potential as we have especially recently seen. I think she isn't in Tier 1 yet. Her album in the UK actually sold less than Matt, it's her USA success that puts her there and Simon likes her.

Girls Aloud and Will Young are the longest running successes. Kym Ryder and Myleene Klass have made a good fight of it and are still on our screens. Leona is obviously huge and so is Susan Boyle unless they flop randomly over the next few years.

Rebecca is tier 2 as her album sold 500,000 copies just yet. She is in danger of slipping to tier 3 if she flops, but she hasn't. Very little USA success though.
Alex is only tier 2 because of her old success, based on this year only she'd be tier 3.

I'd put Aiden in the tier 2, he has had sucess but to be honest he's had more sucess than any other contestant who has gone out early in the contest.

Rhydian is still doing quite well for himself with his albums and shows. I'd probably put him in tier 2 or 3 just because of this at the moment.

Connie Talbot may not have done much here but in America she is doing very well for herself. She still performs on quite a few tv shows over there and is recording at the moment I believe. tier 2 or 3 I think.

Everything else I think is pretty accurate p.s great idea for a thread

Little Mix will be Tier 1 eventually.

Misha B Tier 2 with a possibility of Tier 1 in the future, depending on album material

Amelia will be Tier 2

Marcus - Oblivion

LM....tier 2, (after the overhyping has worn off) they are not a patch on Girls Aloud/Spice Girls, and that saying something foir these two groups!!

Misha B....tier 1/2 great single thus far, if the album is anything like the mixtape, we are in for a treat!!

Amelia.....tier 3/4 future material needs to be better than her debut single at present, but I have confidence in her!!

Marcus.....tier 4!! Nuff said!!

Not quite sure how 'fastest selling single across Europe in 24hrs' and '2nd biggest selling single by a UK female solo artist' (after Adele) industry records mean only tier 2.....lol.

JLS are Tier 3, Tier 2 at the most, their sales figures have rapidly decreased from album to album and their two most recent singles charted quite poorly

I think there`s the Premier Division of the select (very) few where you feel they have truly escaped the Reality Tv show tag: Girls Aloud and Will Young. Can`t think of anyone else,as this Division needs time to get into. Rebecca Fergusson? Cher LLoyd? Eventually.
The rest are entertainers left to the vagaries of a pretty mad business. Diana Vickers,Marcus Collins,Steve Brookstein,TALENT-WISE could have been contenders for the premier,but...we`re in a world where Jedward are probably the most successful reality show contestants.

Was I dreaming, but weren`t Stavros-Flatley charging a cool quarter mill for their gigs?

If you're including Kym and Myleene, I'd put Suzanne Shaw and Noel Sullivan in the tier below them...they haven't been as successful but Suzanne was in Emmerdale for quite a while, only just leaving, and I think Noel is starring in We Will Rock You at the moment...or he was in 2011 anyway.

So I'd say they've been more successful than the likes of Clea and Eoghan...but not more than Kym and Myleene.

Also Brenda Edwards has done quite well for herself in the West End I think?

yeah, she starred as Killer Queen in We Will Rock You and I can't remember what she's in at the moment but I believe its the Michael Jackson show. Not too sure though

The gorgeous Marcia Lawrence was in a big West End Jackson tribute the year Michael Jackson died, so that`s probably still doing well. We forget a successful musical run really pays; long run these guys are making more money than the winners like Cardle (who probably OWE their record companies money by album two,if they get that far).

Rubbish. Three number one singles and two no.1 albums in the UK alone.

One of them I assume was that awful cover of a snow patrol classic? I assume the other was the X factor winners song? The third being her only song- "bleeding love" a good tune at that! Enough said she has disappeared as good as.

Leona has disappeared quite drastically off the scene and is now relying on ripping off classics to get chart recognition again. Shame cos she's crazy talented. Cher is dominating America and will in the UK, I'm not a fan but overall she'll be far more successful

Do I really have to explain about Girls Aloud being more successful than Leona? LOL that's hilarious

Olly's first album was no. 2 but I think it is a achievement for an X Factor contestant that his 2nd album charted higher then his first album, this rarely happens.

I wonder why that could be.
I kinda like how they escaped these tiers entirely actually

you seem to try to be comprehensive, yet... are you conveniently sweeping 1D under a rug by any chance?

first UK group to debut at the very top of THE Billboard 200 with their freshman album?

same album that hit no1 in 16 countries and the boys currently recording their sophomore album that is highly anticipated by their fans??
