Acer laptop battery
I am looking for a replacement battery for my Acer laptop 5715Z. My original one is only giving me just over an hour of use.
I have googled the part number (AS07B31) and the model, and come up with wildly varying prices. Is it a case of just going for a 'known' company, or just look for the best deal? Also, I have noticed that my spec for the original is 11.1v 4000mAh. Some of those on sale are the same voltage but 4400 / 4800 mAh. Should I avoid and look for one with exactly the same spec? Thank you in anticipation of your help. |

Can't comment on the specifics of your laptop but I just bought one off amazon for my netbook based on the feedback.
mAh is milliamp hours so in effect the amount of power stored in the battery. It's quite common to see higher numbers which give longer life. You don't need it to match the 4000 figure I've replaced a 4400mAh with a 7800mAh and get several extra hours out of it on my netbook. Not sure you'd get any noticable difference between 4000 and 4800 mind, that might be just a case of newer / better battery performance |

Replacing a 4000mAh Battery with one showing a greater mAh figure will be perfectly fine. It just means the battery will last longer between charges, it's the voltage that's critical and must be the same as the original.

I replaced mine on an Acer 5102 with a 7200 mah. That gives a better uptine than the 4000 odd I had before.
I think I just chose a midrange priced one. |

Sorry to gatecrash the thread a bit, but my Acer Aspire 7540 has just told me there's a problem with my battery and it may shut down suddenly, is this the beginning of the end and should I start looking for a new laptop (it has been getting very hot as well lately for no apparent reason) or should a new battery be sufficient?

New batteries are about £20 from decent sellers on ebay so its always worth replacing when problems occur.
Here I'd trust ebay more than Amazon due to mismatched reviews. Its also worth noting that lower capacity batteries are likely to be both more reliable and capacity accurate. If a new or even old battery fails to charge it is usually because of one faulty cell. |
