With hours of 12am-12pm, I think we can probably guess what will end up getting the slot and it won't be a film channel.

Depends on what kind of a film channel it is!!!

As its PlayboyTVChat who are leaving the slot (no other channel occupies a 0000-1200 slot), they could be moving to another slot on Freeview, e.g. some of Big Deal's overnight slot or going off Freeview altogether. If they are going altogether, than this indicates that the market for so many similar channels does not support the number on Freeview. These channels will often have short term contracts, renewable on a month by month basis.

If PlayboyTVChat continues, and another Adult station starts than DMOL will not have enough slots in the pre-reshuffle adult genre to fit the extra service in.

SY FY could also take the slot as there are progams that would fit the late night and morning rules for program content.

But it depends if they want to be on freeview with cost etc. and that will determine what if anything takes over the airtime

I'm afraid that with a timeslot like that, it'll be one of shopping, slappers or gambling.

Hope not that not what freeeview needs.

I fully agree, tomee. If I had my way, I'd compel the Open University to restart their overnight programme broadcasts for anyone to watch or record for later viewing. Their broadcasts regrettably ceased in 2006 and they would be far more educational and worthwhile than the pile of that is usually on overnight.

Looking at the timing, this is likely to be related to the SDN mux FEC change.

Probably carriage for a channel has been agreed for the new England-only slot, but they are not interested in the overnight/morning segment.

If it's not the LCN99 ADULT Playboy slot it could be Gems TV selling off half of their Arq A 24/7 slot. Gems TV just shows promos overnight now and they are on 5* from 9am-1pm.

The extra SDN stream is not available at all in Wales and Northern Ireland or Tyne Tees either, until October/Sept. It is a really useless stream ideal for teleshopping.

Not being available in two regions for 2-3 months I doubt is going to be an issue (it doesn't seem to have bothered Food Network taking on extra hours, or 4seven for that matter). Not being available in Wales at all might be, but if it is a channel just dipping their toe in with some cheap carriage, that won't be a problem either.

FXUK would be good.
Whilst it would be good, the content that would pull in viewers (ie. The Walking Dead, True Blood, Dexter) all airs at 10PM, which if I understood this correctly is not covered by the available slot.

Sadly this slot will be taken up by 'whores who need to learn how to apply make up central' and probably not anything you'd want to watch or tape for later...

Putting 2 and 2 together --

5*+1 could appear and share with Playboy TV's reduced hours
and that leaves the reported midnight to midday slot available.
