Double images on Sky 3D

Got a Panasonic TX-P42XT50B and upgraded to receive Sky 3D at the weekend. So far the 3D content has been rather disappointing with double images usually on some aspect of the picture. If the foreground is clear with depth then the background will have double images, and vice versa. Even the Sky 3D ident has this effect quite noticeably. Adjusting the 3D effect can help but it usually just creates another problem elsewhere on the screen. Usually I find the middle setting produces the best results but it's still not ideal. Sitting right in the middle at the ideal distance does not alleviate the problem. I also find that shutting one eye does not get rid of the effect so it could be an issue with the way Sky is inputting each image? Would it be worth contacting Sky? Any advice would be greatly appreciated

I will say that I am very pleased with the display aside from the 3D issues, at £449 from Comet I think the quality is excellent, despite only being 720p. But if 3D is a major selling point for you then I would look at reviews for other products based on my experiences so far. Having Googled the problem it seems like it's a crosstalk issue and is a problem with the display rather than Sky.

The symptoms you describe resemble what a 3D TV image looks like without or with non-functioning 3D glasses.
Can you confirm you have the correct model of glasses to pair with your 3D TV and that if they are active glasses they are powered on?
Ideally do you have a 3D BluRay player attached that you CAN achieve watchable 3D with?
Also the SkyHD to TV connection must be via a HDMI1.4 spec cable I believe - a HDMI1.3 spec cable is insufficient.

(I stand to be corrected on any of the above, but just today I saw an LG 3DTV, with passive glasses, demo playing a Sky 3D trailer.)

The glasses are definitely on and functioning, and they were given away free with the TV so I would imagine they are the appropriate glasses, they are Samsung while the TV is Panasonic. Don't get me wrong, the 3D effect is there but it is just inconsistent. David Attenborough's Flying Monsters was very good but the Prince's Trust Concert the effect was patchy at times and there was ghosting. Funnily enough, the 2D ->3D conversion has less ghosting than Sky 3D. With that in mind, I may try a new cable as I am still using the one bought in 2006, presumably the 1.3 you refer to.

You need Panasonic glasses type No TY-ER3D4ME these only work for the Panasonic 2012 range , cant be 100% certain but Samsung glasses for a Panasonic TV unlikely to be compatible !

I find that strange given that the current glasses do seem to 'sync' with the TV, the glasses symbol appears at the bottom of the screen.

Hmm the symbol on the screen indicates that the bluetooth is detecting the glasses BUT I would try to borrow some of the correct glasses before you go much further .

FYI the glasses are about £45 per pair .

Just a suggestion, assuming the glasses are working correctly, try boosting your contrast and brightness levels on your TV when in 3D mode. I have seen this be fairly effective in cutting through any ghosting / crosstalk.
