The only one I can see working on an emotional level is Michael or Jack for obvious reasons, her history with both of them.

Derek, Ray and Max having deep feelings for Kat makes no sense.

You are the ONLY person I've come across to say those words! WHY?!

This new EP has got the thumbs up from me if this is true! I think the whole storyline is just tacky, tacky, tacky. Whoever thought of it was clearly playing a cruel joke.

Jessie must surely read her scripts from her current era and think

"CHRIST!!! I really had it lucky back in 00-03 this stuff is absolute shit!!!!" LOL

of course she will stay for the dosh thats only natural we all would LOL but she must be thinking this in her head.

thats two major S/Ls for her current era that have had dodgy receptions and are getting wrapped up sooner than expected its sad really I used to love Kat but and was gutted when she left in 05

but if she left in december this year I would be really glad and I never thought I could say that about this character

hopfully they can turn this all around

I liked Kat too, and now I just want her to go. To be fair, she's a much better actress than this stint shows: it's like she's just phoning it in. There doesn't seem to be any effort there at all, like her heart's not in it.

We ourselves will find out who the man is during next weeks' batch of episodes.

While it doesn't say if the affair itself will be ended as quickly, they are certainly not dragging out the farcical "Who-Done-Her" aspect of it any more. I, personally, have a feeling that they are going to try and show an emotional growth between the two (very hard to portray when one actor never appears on-screen) so they can try and claw back a bit of public sympathy for Kat, who has come off terribly through this whole thing.

So there we go! For once, an EE story will end quickly instead of being dragged out for ages.
I actually hope this is true, I think the storyline will be much better once we know who the mystery man is.

Jack? Nah. He's come too far since Ronnie, and he's not the kind of man to be so clingy with someone. He wasn't even clingy with Ronnie until the end.
Max: Again? Another affair? Blah.
Ray: I like him with Kim and there's no point to splitting them up really, or ruining Kim and Kat's friendship (lord knows both women don't work with a lot of the other characters!)
Micheal: I love him and Janine together too much (although I think your reaction would be hilarious, Priscilla! Lol! Sorry hun!)
So that only leaves Derek.
I agree with your points, but is it definitely one of them 5?

Last night I got the feeling it might be Michael. The way he burst into Kat's bedroom and was surprised to see Alfie in there. Not only that, Billy is keeping an eye out on him, they might reveal it like that?
I'm still hoping it's Jack though.

Given that Lorraine Newman's episodes have started showing, I'm guessing even she thought the storyline was rubbish.

The damage is done whenever or however they wind this up.

I can't help thinking that they've achieved what they set out to do...make the present landlady of the Vic so unlikable that we'll be crying out for a new one.
Now I wonder who that will be ??!!

Isn't the fact their rapidly and unexpectedly concluding both of Kat's story's since her return proof that the character is ruined beyond repair, and needs to go?

I thought Lorraine Newman's episodes didn't start until September?

Well, if these are her episodes then hopefully we see a sharp overturn in quality over the next few weeks.

Let us hope this tedious and pointless s/line (yet another one as EE staggers on bereft of all originality now!) is tied up as soon as the OP claims it is going to be now then.

For what it's worth (very little!), Derek looks the most likely to be the "mystery man" in question to me as we haven't really seen him being shown as often as the other "suspects" in the aftermath of a text or call to Kat's much maligned mobile phone! Ray - why?! - as he now appears to be all loved up with the sickly and irritating Kim. Jack.....the red herring and the second favourite behind Derek for me but probably too carefee and flirty by nature to have to resort to doing it in devious, secretive style. Max - probably not as there's never been any spark between him and Kat - even though he's probably not "getting it" at home with Tanya right now. Michael - unlikely but is probably the most fitting dark horse in this matter. They've slept together before and conceived a child of course....and it might explain why he's a bit distant with Janine at the moment and is just using Scarlett's unsavoury situation as an excuse. Time will tell but please do hurry up with it TPTB - to put us out of our misery!
