I agree Roger can do it - he can sing the phone book. A boybad type would not work as Jesus for me - there needs to be something that sets him apart from the apostles and it needs to be someone who would have MM in awe of him

Jon and Niall and Ben would each make a good Joseph, so maybe Dreamcoat for them
Nathan and Jeff would be fantastic in Rock of Ages
Rory and David - I have issues with their acting

Ben ....I've liked him from the beginning and he's just improving all the time. If not Ben then Nathan is my second choice.

I certainly do not want Roger, he may have the performing experience and stamina but his sing off performance was poor, can he actually reach the high notes required of JCS? I would also be slightly disappointed if David got it.... That leaves the 3 amigos, Ben - all rounder, would do a good job, but not awe inspiring. Nathan - would be a huge presence on a stage, could do with loosing a few pounds perhaps! Rory - his vocals would be great in an arena and when he sings with no vibrato, he is pretty pitch perfect and as ALW said a real bell like quality, can he act? Who knows. Gotta vote for your favourite as they say. Bye the way can I have your Dublin tickets if Nathan wins?

Would love Roger to get the part and therefore change the stereotype of Jesus Christ, also love his voice. Has the stage presence, moves and humility.

Ben and Rory are ok.

Am unsure of David's acting and stage presence.


Nathan really does not do it for me at all, too shouty and weirdly aggressive, agree a pure rock show would better suit him.

Nathan can do this, he needs to strip his vocals back, we know he can blast us out of our seats, he know needs to show calmness , subtlety, and less is more . If he starts to believe and stops thinking rock god and just thinks I am gonna really begin to listen to advice and get on with it instead of perhaps fighting advice, he would be brilliant.

I'm wondering if the guys have any say in what songs they sing ?

I would love to see Nathan doing something like " Bed of Roses " or " I'll Be There For You " by Bon Jovi. Or better still, " Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad " by Deaf Leppard.

Take a look at him singing " My Immortal " on Youtube. This guy has all the correct ingredients to make a success of this role.

Roger is good, but lacks the range in his voice and the stamina in my opinion. I think he is cracking apart already and his voice was woeful last night. ALW made reference to the fact he seems to be unfit.

David is a hammy actor who goes a bit OTT for my liking. He also seems to like speaking parts of his song rather than singing. He gets right on my pip.

Rory has a great voice, but needs a song that gets him moving about a bit and something that can show us some emotion.

Ben is good, but I can't see him in this role. I have no idea why .... he just doesn't ring my bell.

The winner will be whoever ALW wants to win. He has clear favourites and in his past TV casting couch shows he sulks when his favourite gets in the bottom two.
I think he wants Ben to win. He definately doens't like Nathan. So it will probably be Ben who wins.

Rory is a great singer but not sure about the acting.

I can see Nathan in the role more than any of the others but also David would suit the part. The Jesus role is a bit shouty in the temple scene and Gethsemane.
Rory would make a good Pilate because he sings crystal clear lyrics.
The only one I just can't see in the role of Jesus is Roger good a singer as he is. He wouldn't come across as a "sad little man."

My biggest worry is that it's the whole invalidating "if you're talented and confident with it, you MUST be arrogant" rubbish being played out again. Why performers are being told they should be excrutiatingly modest at all times is beyond me - to hit the notes in Gethsemane every night, the winner will require a whole lot of self-belief - the shy, retiring "nice guys" aren't always going to cut it and we've got to stop condemning ambition and belittling people with positive attitudes. Every performer who plans to entertain an audience and headline a show needs a healthy ego (just look at any of the big pop/rock stars who are successful all over the world). "Light and shade", sure, but the extent to which that is appropriate depends on the song choices.

I cant see any of the others in the role...they are all way too insipid - and David in particular does nothing whatsoever for me....I really couldnt see him as Jesus.

Something I was thinking about last night . I have tickets for the show in Dublin and I am not sure now that I will enjoy it as much knowing the person who is Jesus a bit too well
Usually I see a show and the actors are not as familiar to me , I can be in awe and loose myself . Who ever now wins this will be more a person to me , I will know his flaws , see his criticisms , know he is not perfect etc
I saw Joseph twice with Keith and one of the other lads fromthe show ( cant think of his name ) and each time I found myself thinking og them as lads on the show and not as Joseph. If that makes sense

It only struck me as I was well into the show that it was the cast of the tour they were loking for and the same cast I will be watching . Now if for example Nathan wins, I will see him as Nathan and not as Jesus . I am half sorry now I started watching

I am actually beginning to hope that Nathan is truly the chosen one and they are just giving him a rough ride to see what his reaction is. I may have hit the nail on the head or I may be losing the plot completely

I don't think Nathan is the chosen one for this part. ALW could well have an idea of where he could be best used in the West End, he's not one to see talent go to waste. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt as many of the contestants on his shows have ended up with a career in MT.

It won't stop me voting for Nathan though because I believe he would make the best Jesus out of those remaining.
