I wholeheartedly agree jerseyporter, but please understand a lot of these petty arguments are just people having a laugh. People as you say can have a favorite Doctor or not, as they wish, its not compulsory. Myself I do (Christopher Eccleston) and still like many of the others' portrayals, though as for sexy, to me nothing comes close in new Who to Martha Jones. Jon Pertwee was also my first experience of Dr. Who, A great actor.

Please understand, no-one's saying you have to have a favourite Doctor, but equally no-one should say you can't either.

The breaks are absolutely refreshing in my eyes. The fact you're frustrated that you have to wait shows that you're anticipating it and wanting it ... which is what a show should make you feel.

Also, longer production = more time to iron stuff out.

Stop moaning and just wait for it like everybody else.

Totally agree

I knew we would finally disagree eventually. Let this go down in the record books, the first time ever I've disagreed with Granny!

Oh no! Now I'll have to put you on my boiling oil list! Sorry, Joanne, I'm so so sorry....

Edit - qoute function seems a bit awry. Hope I didn't scare it by my mention of boiling oil.

That said, I still think Moffat is great when he gets it right. And Matt is so wonderful as an actor I could watch him in anything.”

Scream as much as you like, but I still think this is the reason.

At the end of the day, I just can't understand at all why people care so much about the "quality" of episodes. Maybe there's something wrong with me because I am in the overwhelming minority. Almost any television show will please me so long as I like the premise. Because of this, there isn't really an episode of Doctor Who I haven't liked. Yes, I like some more than others, but I never do things like analyse and critique the acting, the plot or the themes, and I have never been bored by an episode. I just sit back and enjoy the entertainment...
...then I come on here and see countless people moaning about how "paper-thin" the plot was, how "unbelievable" the characters were or how "wooden" the acting was. (This happens with any television drama, not just Doctor Who) Why do people even think about these things if it will just ruin the experience? Doctor Who isn't a work of art, it's a television series designed to entertain people on a Saturday evening.

In short, people on here take television far too seriously, in my opinion....oh well, I suppose that's what you get for joining a television discussion forum!
And I suppose there'd be nothing to talk about if everyone liked everything....
...so my rant was essentially pointless!
Just ignore my insane ramblings and move swiftly on.

Only around a month to go now!

I don't like the disjointed feeling which comes with the breaks. I don't mind long waits, but I'd much prefer all the episodes to be shown weekly, one after the other.

LOL...pointless but entertaining.

It is a bit odd that I (and others) come on here to discuss DW and often end up saying more about what we don't like than what we do.

I think for most of us on here we might moan about this or that thing, but we still think that DW is the most amazing programme there ever was or ever will be.

Even the Doctor in Narnia was better than anything else on at Christmas.

Was it here or at 'another place' that someone quoted the Woody Allen joke with reference to Doctor Who fans - two elderly women in a restaurant, "The food at this place is terrible.", "You're right, and such small portions."

Accepted, although it's hard to work that out when a) 'humour' isn't the same for everyone, and often doesn't translate too well when you've only got words, but no facial or vocal expression to go with it, and b) one only dips in and out of threads now and again when there is time, and therefore isn't a regular', and so not aware of which posters are known for 'having a laugh' or teasing each other with long-running 'in-jokes', and who's actually making a serious point. When this is the only thread you've read in a few days it's not always easy to work out.

But that's ok. I'm learning it's sometimes better just to read but never to post on some forums because it's too easy to take people at face value, and then get the wrong end of the stick when replying. I'll stick to lurking from now on and keeping my thoughts to myself.

Being a long standing doctor Who fan who vaguely remembers the stone Medusa come to life in The Mind Robber, am very appreciative that we still have new who to watch. After the original series ended in 1989 and the lame TV movie later our favourite programme seemed gone forever. So all this slagging off of new episodes before they are transmitted, and the last Doctor was superiour to the new one, 'lets have him back' are rather pointless. accept we have our fave programme and in the here and now and just enjoy....

I hope you don't take me seriously. jerseyporter. I haven't really got a cauldron of boiling oil for Tenth Doctor haters.

I like to read other people's opinions and thoughts - please don't feel you can't post on here.

There are a few strange strange people who'd rather have the show cancelled because they think it has gotten too ridiculous or something stupid like that.
I can't understand the mindset.

Maybe Matt doesn't obviously come over as sexy as the DT Who, but this one can flirt with River and make you wonder what kind of fun goes on in that Tardis (or is that just me?)

And as for Moffat, he is a genuine storyteller, which is a rare thing these days.

I started on my love of Who in the days of Tom Baker and to be honest the series now give me the same feeling of excitement that I used to get when I was 4 waiting for the next episode to be on. I want to be taken along on the ride and wait for those little moments of genius that leave you smiling all week.

Long may it continue!!

No, it's not just you. I thought it was just me.

This thread always cheers me up. Every time I see the thread title it makes me smile, it's so ridiculous.
