Suburgatory (E4 Pace)

Anyone catch it ?

I thought it was ok. nothing laugh out loud hysterical, but a good few laughs and certainly enough to give it another go next week.

It gets better but I thought the first episode was brilliant

I thought there were laugh out loud moments tbh

"You know what else it shows.... Vagina" being one of them... (I see so many girls wearing similar and actually think the same myself very often)

I saw the first episode and it certainly was a surreal neighbourhood - a bit like Desperate Housewives on acid!

I shall stick with it for a bit to see how it develops.

I saw it at the weekend on Saturday, don't think that's its normal timeslot but i really liked it. Not laugh out loud but i found it quite amusing and entertaining and i really like the young actress, she seems very talented. It's certainly a bright show, haven't seen so much colour on a US tv show in ages! Only character i recognised was that bloke who played Brenda's brother in Six Feet Under.

I tried 3 different repeats and all of the were edited for content. The most infuriating being last nights, were they edit out the vagina joke, but in the internal break broadcast a trailer for New Girl which made reference to vaginas, gynecology and menstruation Talk about inconsistency

Also, is there anybody on Earth who finds 'Skank' offensive but 'Biznitch' acceptable?

The pilot episode i saw was on Sat night at 8.30pm. I couldn't possibly tell you if it had been edited but i don't recall any vagina joke, unless i just can't remember. Don't really see why the show should be edited anyway, it's not particularly risque is it??

It's not rude, which is what makes the editting so infuriating. All Pre-9:00 PM showings were cut (Also, pre-10PM on +1s).

Some of the lines cut were: [The bit in brackets is what was cut]
George: I came here for the school system, the clean air...
Noah: (But you can't have sex with the school system)
...
Noah: That whole displaced New Yorker thing you've got going on here is gonna kill
George: (I'm not so sure)
Noah: (Just look over there, that waitress is eye humping you)
...
Dallia: This skirt will show off my belly ring
Tessa: You Know what else it will show off, (your vagina)

There was probably a few more, but these are the cuts I noticed

Watched tonights episode (didn't particularly notice any risque jokes or language). It's not really a laugh out loud kind of show but it is amusing and humourous in its own way but i really, really do like it. Especially the whole fish out of water scenario. The lead actress is amazing! I don't know how old she is but i think she's extremely talented and suits the role down to a tee (she looks like a young Debra Messing from Will and Grace!). Love the chemistry between her and her dad, opening scene was superb! Great comic timing. I'm definetely going to keep on watching.

Also noticed the actor who plays Noah used to be in Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Dollhouse.

IMO Just another poor, pointless US comedy, may give it a couple more episodes just in case but for me think this is gonna go the same way and most of the new US comedies... deleted from my planner

One day there may just be a new US comedy thats actually even half decent.

Honesty is the best policy, while others think it, I write it, surely thats the best way to be. If a programs crap I will say it is but if a programs good then it gets the full credit it deserves.

This show is good it reminds of Mean Girls with the similarish story of a outsider coming into a different environment also the main actress reminded me of Emma Stone like another poster has mentioned here

One of my favourite shows. Have already seen them all at US pace. Always laugh out loud. It's quite similar to Awkward on MTV in a way.

If E4 are cutting it then that just helps the argument to download shows at US pace

Problem is E4 only cut the pre-9pm airings so its probably best to watch on Tuesdays or from 4OD which I suppose will be uncut

If you dislike the majority of US comedies, why watch them? Seems pointless to watch a show you know you'll dislike, then slate it when you do....

Surely the idea of discussions is to have differing opinions. If we all followed each other like sheep and said we liked it what a pointless place forums would be.

I love US comedies, just not the recent rubbish coming out of the states that E4 continue to pick up.

But as I said I will give it a few more weeks but my experiences in the past of this recent new wave of US comedies have been the same, if the first few episodes are crap normally the rest of it will be..

That wasn't what I said, I said if you don't like a type of show, why waste time watching it.I hadn't seen you make any positive posts about US comedies, so I assumed you dislike them (although I've only seen you post on threads about new shows so that may have been an inaccurate assumption). Out of curiosity, which US comedies do you like?

I will admit that most of the US comedies recently have either been marmite (2 Broke Girls, New Girl, Apartment 23) or shit (Last Man Standing, I Hate My Teenage Daughter, .Whitney). Suburgatory is definitely marmite but it was almost certainly the best new comedy from last year's season.

It was consistently funny and quirky with just enough character development to stop it from becoming tedious.

I'm enjoying watching it because it's smart, but in terms of comedy it's more of an amusement rather than anything else however it's still extremely watchable so i hope it gets better as the season goes along.
