Long story short, we're going to Disneyland Paris for a week on Friday and I've only found out just now that the only free WiFi in Disney is at the McDonalds...alternatively I can purchase it in the hotel for the...ahem...reasonable fee of €15/day.

So, does anyone know if any sim cards that I purchase for the major networks in France will work on a Three phone? For some reason I think it won't as I tried putting an AT&T card in my previous Three phone last year and it asked me for the SIM unlock code...but if anyone has any definite answers yes/no I would really appreciate it.

Cheers!

If you bought your phone from Three, it's highly likely it's locked and would need to be unlocked by them or in a phone shop

From what I remember mobile data is expensive in France. Last time I was there SFR wanted €14.99 for a SIM with 3 days usage!

Why not just use your UK Three SIM and opt into their Euro Internet pass. £5 per day for unlimited usage and you don't have to worry about swapping SIMS and unlocking your phone etc.

As others have said, your phone will probably need unlocking before you can use another network's SIM in it.

As for using your mobile in France, when I was there a couple of years ago, I bought an Orange France ("Mobicarte") SIM and added the "Internet Max" add-on. 3G coverage and speeds were good, and that was in a rural part of Brittany/Pays de la Loire, so you should have no trouble in Disneyland.

Details here if you decide to go down this route.

I am on the One Plan & was just in the South of France for a couple of days so took this option. It's not quite as good as Vodafone's EuroTraveller at £3/day which automatically operates once you are enrolled as you need to connect every day & confirm the purchase of Internet Pass. It also expires at midnight UK time so theoretically it would be a good idea to switch off data roaming before you go to sleep as otherwise it could rack up data charges while you sleep as you cannot pay in advance for the next day.

That shouldn't happen.

When the Euro Internet Pass expires at midnight (UK time), data will be disabled until you choose one of two options:

1) Buy another Euro Internet Pass

2) Enable standard roaming rates (69.6p per megabyte)

Any attempt to access web pages when the pass has expired will redirect you to a free web page with the above information.

That's good to know that data is disabled. I wasn't sure which is why I said "theoretically it would be a good idea to switch off data roaming before you go to sleep". I was thinking of push email & notifications still being active once the
*Euro Internet Pass expired.
