Had my phone a year...can I get it unlocked??
Can I get my Vodafone mobile unlocked for all networks after having it for a year on Vodafone.
As Im moving to Orange I wouldn't mind having a back up phone, can the service provider give you the code as I've seen out the year with them?? |

I think what juzzy25 means is that he / she is wondering if they are legally allowed to do this under contract, having had the phone or contract for a year or more.
There's nothing physically stopping most phones from being unlocked, even one day in to the contract, but some service providers may not like this and it may be against your contract to do this until you own the phone, which is normally at the end of your contract. If your contractual period has reached the end then the chances are that you own the phone and what you do with it is up to you. If it's a Nokia or similar then post of the unlocking forum. If you were asking if your service provider would unlock it for you after 12 months, then they probably will, but they normally charge for this. |

Thanks! Just phoned my provider and my Sharp GX20 now works on all networks and I got it done for free.
He went through the procedure with me on the phone but it's unqiue due to the IMEI so no point offering a service to any other sharp users. I can flog this rubbish Motorola A835 I bought unlocked for all networks, never used the 3 SIM in it, possibly the most useless brick I've ever bought!! (anyone want it!!) Ta for the help. |

Glad to help.
As for the Motorola, unfortunately early Motorolas on Three are crap, full stop. The only decent one I know of on their network is the A1000 which is an excellent phone (just got one myself). Remember though, if you are going to use the 2G phone with the Three sim card that you run the risk of getting caught by Three and they normally take action as you've broken the terms of your agreement with them. |

I won't use three, I don't think so, terrible network, mainly for the 3G internet, calls/txting are fine, but browsin is a pain in the butt, and don't get me started with the "Today on 3" thing.
Double txts and double minutes on Orange has suited me fine. After my years up on my 2G, Im going to Orange 3G, won't be going near Vodafone in the future (long story!) |
