I'll be in Lodon during the first week of the olympics and I've heard there are big screens in hyde park/trafalgar square where members of the public can watch the opening ceremony. Just wondeirng if this is true and where can I watch?
Thanks

I watched Mr Bolt's 100m win in Trafalgar Square 4 years ago.

Can't believe there won't be a big screen there again this year.

Can't believe or it's a shame? You can believe it if they attract you to the Park with better catering, toilet facilities and that most important issue to them - merchandising.

You will be very unlikely to get into hyde park as its a bt London live site and you have to purchase tickets to get in. I want to know somewhere else as I don't want to pay to get into watch it, i'd rather find somewhere free.

There are live sites in various locations as well as Hyde park - Walthamstow, Woolwich, Victoria park (ticket only I believe) and next to Tower Bridge at Potters field (from 28th). However you may well be too late to find somewhere to watch the opening ceremony - Woolwich (overground from London bridge) or Walthamstow (victoria line) may be possible but they aren't central.

Trafalgar square is being used as a live site for the Paralympics - but not during the Olympics.

Pubs will be showing it - and there are plenty of them!

I'm only actually staying in London during the Paralympics so knew the screens were up in Trafalgar Square then but I'm surprised it's not happening during the Olympics. I guess they think it'll be too busy. Which makes sense.

NO BIG SCREENS in Trafalgar Square, I will rage. That is where my friends, housemates and work colleagues were heading. Oh well pub it is then.
