Give up your day job No-one outside of Apple's trusted circle knows when yet, but there are a number of reasons to believe it might be arriving this autumn, possibly in October. |

Maybe the OP thought Tim Cook or someone else from Apple might come in here and think "oh ok, I know it's supposed to be top secret but I'll tell this bloke on a public forum. No-one else will be bothered!"
Maybe quantum physics next then for a topic. Maybe Steve jobs will make an appearance. |

Nobody knows yet. Although widely accepted that it will probably be in the autumn.

No, no one knows when it'll be released. Why do people always ask this question. Apple only announce it about a few weeks in advance and every one knows about it at the same time because it becomes world news. You're going to know at the same time as everyone else when the new iPhone will be released.

Give up your day job As with all iPhone releases, no one actually knows, except Apple. You could have used a well known search engine, put your question into it and come up about 904,000,000 results...ALL of them speculation. So, perhaps your next question should be..."How long's a piece of string."

No-one except Apple knows, and I can guarantee you that right now, only a small number of people who work for Apple know too. They don't tell the retail stores until really close to release. They don't tell departments within Apple that don't need to know. It's how they keep it all so quiet.
Well its the latest news ( rumour) to come out about the 5 . |

Well the iPhone 5 was originally rumoured to come out June 2011, then there was a rumor for august 2011, then october 2011 (we all know how that rumour went). Then another rumour for June 2012, now there is one for august/september.
In total there have been over 5 release months rumoured since last year. It's pointless speculating. |

Believe nothing until it gets announced in a press conference by a member of Apple staff. |

Give up your day job If there's an announcement, then there'll be a press conference, and we'll know about the press conference in advance, and there'll be a thread on it. |

To be fair, what were you expecting? A stupid question and all that...
If there's an announcement, then there'll be a press conference, and we'll know about the press conference in advance, and there'll be a thread on it. who said it was stupid I've had several grown up answers if you don't like the question then don't answer or get involved. i have the iPhone 4 and a half that was meant to be iPhone 5 as we were led to believe until they changed the name of it. but debate is debate and your entitled to your remit i suppose. |

Apple are the perfect example of "don't believe everything you read in the media" (unless it's a direct report from an actual Apple press conference, and even then, be sceptical)!

That's the point though. Apple DIDN'T change it. Apple never announced what the next phone would be called. They announced iOS 5 at their developer conference, but they didn't, at any point, announce the name of the next phone until the office press conference when they showed the actual device.

Or as we call it 'autumn'.
Everything is indeed pointing to the Autumn. IO6 is going to be out around then too and Apple like to coincide new OSs with new model iPhones. |
