No-one outside of Apple's trusted circle knows when yet, but there are a number of reasons to believe it might be arriving this autumn, possibly in October.

Nobody knows yet. Although widely accepted that it will probably be in the autumn.

No, no one knows when it'll be released. Why do people always ask this question. Apple only announce it about a few weeks in advance and every one knows about it at the same time because it becomes world news. You're going to know at the same time as everyone else when the new iPhone will be released.

No-one except Apple knows, and I can guarantee you that right now, only a small number of people who work for Apple know too. They don't tell the retail stores until really close to release. They don't tell departments within Apple that don't need to know. It's how they keep it all so quiet.

Well its the latest news ( rumour) to come out about the 5 .

Well the iPhone 5 was originally rumoured to come out June 2011, then there was a rumor for august 2011, then october 2011 (we all know how that rumour went). Then another rumour for June 2012, now there is one for august/september.

In total there have been over 5 release months rumoured since last year. It's pointless speculating.

That's not really true, people were expecting a new iPhone out June 2011 and one was eventually announced, the iPhone 4S.

If they just call this "The new iPhone" which is likely will you still be waiting on an iPhone 5?

i have the iPhone 4 and a half that was meant to be iPhone 5 as we were led to believe until they changed the name of it.

That's the point though. Apple DIDN'T change it. Apple never announced what the next phone would be called. They announced iOS 5 at their developer conference, but they didn't, at any point, announce the name of the next phone until the office press conference when they showed the actual device.

Apple are the perfect example of "don't believe everything you read in the media" (unless it's a direct report from an actual Apple press conference, and even then, be sceptical)!

Indeed, Apple tend to do a cosmetic refresh every 2 years and a hardware refresh every year. Everyone will complain again next year when the design doesn't change as they did with the 4S.
