Lovefilm appears to be winning the War
http://stakeholders.ofcom.org.uk/mar...isual/uk-2.67/ Quote:
According to UKCOM/Nielsen, LoveFilm’s unique audience grew by 56% in the past year, from 1.6 million in March 2011 to 2.5 million in March 2012.
Netflix delivered 1.2 million unique users in March 2012, while Yahoo Movies grew from 1.1 million to 1.4 million unique users in the same period. |

Lovefilm does have some good content on Blu ray and DVD. Their online service is pretty bad. Netflix's online service is an insult. I have no intention of paying a monthly fee to watch D grade movies and 4OD content

Had both services and Netflix is far better than Lovefilm.
True, for the price you are not going to get the latest blockbuster, but the content for TV shows is pretty good at the moment. Enjoying the Knightrider collection....god I am old

Yahoo Movies is more popular than Netflix according to this and I've never seen them mentioned on this forum or known about their service. Am I the only one?

It's still early days for Netflix. Those figures look pretty impressive for a then 2 month old service to me.
Lovefilm has Amazon's backing which is huge. They are always sending me special offers for it through the post. I hadn't heard of Yahoo Movies either. What does it offer and how does it compare? |

I get Lovefilm though my game and film subscription, while I would say yes it does seem the better service, I find it slightly annoying that not everything is available (that you would get via a pc) say via a console.

Currently paying £11 a month for lovefilm getting any Games, Dvds and Blu Rays (2 at a time) and unlimited streaming. Can't fault the service at all, think its fantastic.
Did have a Netflix subscription earlier in the year but deleted it after 3 months. Thought the choice was rubbish after I had got through the small selection I liked. The one thing I did like about the service however was the "Recommended for you" part, hopefully lovefilm can set up something similar. |

![]() http://uk.movies.yahoo.com/ With Amazon's backing, Lovefilm should go from strength to strength, especially now they've got some HD to stream. |

I do like how that market research managed to include Hulu (geoblocked in the UK) and watchfreemovies.ch (a site which links to illegal online streams and downloads). As for Lovefilm instant, I've tried it twice and both times it was a real letdown, as 'jasonT1981' posted, use a DNS redirect service like Unblock-US or Unotelly for £3 per month and you get access to Netflix's UK, US and Canadian catalogue of titles. Even with the extra £3 per month cost it's far better value than Lovefilm. |

If you compare like for like as a streaming service then Lovefilm is poop, even more so that there seems to be content restrictions depending on what device your using to access the service.
The only thing Lovefilm does have over Netflix in the UK is the DVD/Blu Ray & video game rental aspect. Netflix suits me fine and with the use of the likes of unblock-us, even better for a total cost of under £10 a month. |

![]() I have lovefilm its a great service but they need to relaunch their website because of the influx of content they've had over the past six months espicially the TV section its totally random. Whilst netflix and lovefilm are fighting over content the exclusive deals eventually the consumer loses out but as these are early days its all to play for.. |

I dumped Netflix simply because they don't have enough TV content.
One of the benefits of DVD is that the rights are less complex to negotiate. |

Nope, and I can't even find where they allow you to rent streamed movies. They appear to just allow you to watch trailers and stuff:

I have just got 13 months free Love film instant through Talk Talk. The content is not great and they need to do more formats. I can't see me using it much when I can just go onto 1Channel and find anything I want.

One thing I have done is to make sure my Netflix account quality setting is set to 'Best' as the default is set as either 'Good' or 'Better'. |

Don't know anything about 1channel. Is it a legal service?
1channel and similar sites like Watchseries just catalogue links to TV shows and movie streams hosted on filesharing sites. Think of 1Channel as the Piratebay of streaming, instead of linking to torrents it links to streams which have been uploaded illegally. As I said it is illegal, though if any action is taken it'll be against the filesharing sites which host the streams. |

Love Film's streaming interface is atrocious and their PS3 service is even worse. Netflix is much, much better in that regard.

I never use my PS3 to stream Lovefilm because the PS3 can't output @50hz over HDMI it can only output @50hz via composite/rgb the Wii has the same problem with Netflix if set to pal Netflix stutters when set to 480i it outputs pal60 no stutter, Lovefilm on the PS3 via hdmi stutters, the only console that can handle both properly via hdmi is the 360, I wish someone would bring out an stb that supports both services properly its not hard.

I subscribe to lovefilm instant with 2 disc rentals at at a time so I think it is good value considering what block busters charge to rent each disc only and lovefilms tv series content keeps growing
But this yahoo movies intrigues me where and how can I subscribe and what's the cost |

I prefer to use the PS3, though, as I prefer the interfaces on there compared to the 360s |
