Judge rules Apple must tell everyone Samsung didn't copy the iPad

Apple have to publish a notice on their UK website, and and advert in several newspapers and magazines, making it clear that a judge has ruled against their claims that Samsung Galaxy tablets aren't a rip off of the iPad.

Can't wait to get a screenshot

Wasn't it kind of obvious though? Galaxy and Ipad is no where similar. The only similarity was that both are in tablet form. Well I still prefer Apple to Samsung though, it's no contest.

they were more similar in the court papers submitted by apple. because they photoshopped it.

Just remembered that Apple's reaction to losing the court case was to say "This kind of blatant copying is wrong ".

So despite losing, with the corporate marketing machine still in declared war mode Apple have being forced to declare the result.

Now has the judge written what is to be said or will Apple be creative?

It's not clear cut how Apple will react.

Unless it is just another misreport, it almost appears as if Apple's ongoing profits far outweigh the fines. Making hay while the sun shines ain't a bad decision.

Apple believe it's copying because they believe they invented the black rectangle shape! Thank god they weren't around when TVs first started appearing. They want to stifle competition. A good move if they can get away with it of course. But we're not America.

It's getting more and more Pythonesque these days.

I am glad the judge ordered Apple to do this.

I own Apple products and at one time did like Apple but the constant lawsuits in many different countries makes me hate them.

I will never buy an Apple product again because of it.

Apple are rightly getting bad publicity over it, but lots of the big companies are also at it too. They call it 'patent trolling'.

I agree. Just that from what I can see Apple are the worst for it. I can't remember any other company before Apple started all this crap that launches lawsuits like they do.

Whilst a US Judge rules that the 2006 award winning Samsung F700 touchscreen phone cannot be used as evidence, it is still getting plenty of attention.

Seems Apple's marketing style of saying a few words and and letting everyone else join their own zig-zaggy dots is causing eruptions in court.

The judge suggested they might be 'Smoking Crack'.

They were told they couldn't for a number of reasons.

Firstly they didn't bring it up in discovery, which is intentionally designed to allow both sides to form their evidence. They decided to try to slip it in at the end which the Judge took a very dim view of.

Basically they tried to pull a fast one by slipping evidence in at the end when Apple wouldn't had the time to prepare a defense for it and they got caught out.

Personally the F700 UI doesn't look like the iPhone at all, but the Galaxy range does.

Samsung then decided to leak it to the press, for which Samsung were also told off for potentially influencing the Jury.

This is the first thing Samsung have done wrong, they've brought witnesses into the Court Room before the trial started without permission and they didn't register one of their legal team which was a requirement.

I think we all get confused by the splatter gun marketing nature of the court case.

It was used as evidence last Friday.

This has been bugging me since i heard it, surely the judge who publicly stated that the Samsung is not "as cool" as the Apple is in a very dangerous position.
It would be the same as a judge saying don't buy a Ford because Vauxhall is cooler, they could cost Samsung millions even billions in revenue purely by stating what they did.

If i was Samsung's lawyers i would be seriously looking into what they had said, they are in no position to basically slate another company and defermate their character.

That judge is simply a genius at the bar.
