Whatever happened to supermarket music?
As a child I remember that supermarkets such as Prestos and Liptons used to play gentle music in their stores.
Are the big players missing a trick here? |

I remember it slightly differently terrible Muzak that made shopping some sort of nightmare of awful cover versions or tinny instrumentals. Was very glad when they stopped it.

Costcutter radio usually plays some great cheesy 80s power ballads.

I work in a supermarket and the music is awful. Luckily when I'm working I tend to zone out, so don't actually hear alot of it.

Most play Top 40 type songs/modern stuff
Not a supermarket but Matalan play really terrible covers of songs as they're too cheap to pay for the music licence. Those covers are bad, normally people who can't hit the right notes etc. |

On the few occasions I've been into my local Tesco Extra very late at night, they've usually had a radio station playing over the speakers. I think they turn it on at about 11pm.

Asda.FM is the strangest station, often playing the Honeyz I find, seems to be their Sunday night special track. |
