Same here

I always seem to like to keep up with developments at my local airport.

The Dreamliner had it's first flight since January this week it seems.

That's cool. When it was around I used to hear it flying over my house. If my dad was on the phone he would mention that he just heard Concorde Did you ever hear it over your house?

I was 6 when it retired so I expect not.

All I can suggest is a real or virtual tour http://www.fleetairarm.com/aviation-...-360-tour.aspx of Yeovilton's Fleet Air Arm Museum in Somerset where test Concorde 002 can be seen as part of the exhibition. You can walk through it but it's full of monitoring and test equipment with only a handful of seats. The museum is certainly worth a visit as is the Imperial War Museum Duxford in Cambridgeshire.

I like the sound of that. I went to an aviation museum in Germany once and they had a Concorde display there. I must see if I can find it online. I'm such a nerd

I used to love Air Jamaica and BWIA but we don't see them anymore, currently I like the rather classy Oman Air colours:

That looks pretty cool. Anyone remember when BA had those really hideous tail colours a few years back? I don't know what they were supposed to represent

They were done to represent ethnic art from countries served by the airline;

This may have been mentioned but if anyone has an interest in commercial aviation videos they should check out the Just Planes series of DVDS. I am not sure you can get them in Europe but they have loads of highlights on you tube, here is one of my favourites, the Spanish Captain is very funny:

I'm probably biased but I'd have to say Aer Lingus, there's just something about waiting at the gate in a foreign airport and seeing the green Airbus arrive with a shamrock on the tail, it's a sign of going home.

Not many national airlines can evoke that kind of emotion from it's passengers but I hear it a lot from them and Aer Lingus also used the slogan 'You're Home' in the 1980s.

Aww I used to refer to them as Aer Fungus. My parents are flying Aer Lingus to London in a couple of weeks. They hate Ryanair and don't mind paying the extra to fly Aer Lingus as they know they will get their assigned seat.

I also like US Airways' livery and branding for some reason. I'm kinda sad to see it go. I think when they merge with American they should use the American Airlines name and the US Airways logo and branding, a bit like what United did when they merged with Continental.”

American Airlines has already picked its new logo and paint scheme. The colors are kind of nice but I'm not to crazy about all that white.

I must admit I don't really like the new American Airlines paint scheme. The old one was iconic in a way. I used to see it on TV and in movies a lot. I read somewhere that they're undecided which livery will be used when American and US Airways complete their merger. I wish they'd use the American name and US Airways branding/logo. I don't want to see the US Airways logo go Maybe I should get a tattoo of it? If I do, where should I put it?

The 787 is a beautiful airplane. It'll do fine. As with any new airplane there will be issues, and more so on planes that are using newer technologies.

The company will be operating under the American Airlines name. That has been decided. The new logo and paint scheme will likely stay according to US Airway's CEO who will run the combined company.

I know you are joking but permanently marking up your body with a tattoo is self-mutilation.

I know that they're using the American Airlines name, but I read somewhere online that they hadn't decided yet on the branding. Here's the article in question: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000...129394450.html

Of course I was joking! I was only thinking of a temporary one or drawing it on, not a permanent one. The US Airways logo is so easy to draw anyone could do it

I may go out plane spotting whenever we get decent spells of weather. I think Birmingham Airport needs a dedicated spotting facility like Manchester's. There was the Aviation Experience which got closed due to under use. Especially when the runway extension is opened early next year and there are likely to be more services. Birmingham hasn't had American Airlines for over 10 years so they could use with a new route to Chicago.

I wonder if Ryanair would ever try long-haul operations?
