You mean Come Fly with Me - that was more a mockumentary. Rather controversial as well.

I've seen that a couple of times. I thought it was hilarious

It didn't take me a while to realise that FlyLo wasn't a real airline.

Have you ever seen another plane passing by while you are inflight? They are faster than I thought.

That wasn't a sitcom though, just a really shit attempt at a Hollyoaks-style soap opera.

The Mile High Club - Russell Howard's take on it was great

It's quite hard to video or take pictures outside the plane when it's relatively dark. As proven here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WL9_Va84T3Q

Or a dusty window: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I1MQeRV6nQA

I'd say if you want to find information about your local airport, go here: http://www.pprune.org/airlines-airports-routes-85/

There should be a thread for each [mainly regional] airport but the site is rather strict. You go off topic, mention another airport in your airport's thread, and it's closed and the moderators have a go at you, no matter how long it gets. I wouldn't bother posting on it though.

Going on holiday on Thursday, flying out on Friday to Crete for 2 weeks on a Jet2 737-800.

Will get some vids of take off from Glasgow and put them up when i get back. Sadly no landing vids as it will be pitch black

Exactly! I'm not a 'plane spotter' and don't understand a lot of what you guys talk about on this thread, but I find flying fascinating. Before I worked for BA my dad worked in cargo and he was always getting us tours of planes, because I was a moody cow I wasn't interested. Wish I'd gone on them now!

I loved it too!

Is it true that landing at Glasgow is always going to be bumpy due to the winds? It seems to have been scarey every time I've landed, but I don't know if I'm just imagining it!

If I went for a flight to Dubai just so I could have a go on the A380, what are the chances I'd be pulled in to customs and strip-searched as a potential drugs courier?

ETA: To clarify, I'd be flying there and almost immediately straight back, possibly the next day.

I always found flying fascinating. Even as a kid I was interested in it and when I was about 4 I wanted to be a pilot on Concorde. It was my dream until 9/11 and the Concorde crash a couple of years later I used to live near the Heathrow flight path and I would hear planes coming over all the time.

You could change the lighting on your camera, or if there isn't an option you could do it upon uploading to YouTube.

I don't see why they would.

There is always a suspicion when someone flies a long journey and stays only a short period of time there. I suppose I could get round it by flying on to Aus, then back via a different route but there'd still be that suspicion.

Not that I'm doing that, I just don't fancy being held in a windowless room in the bowels of an airport whilst they check out all my story.

Yep. Same with Edinburgh. Last 2 times landing at Glasgow have been very rough!! Great fun though

Yeah there is, but it's never worth doing to be honest.

I have been through Dubai airport many times and I've never been stopped or even strip-searched. Stop being paranoid. Unless, of course, you *are* a drugs courier.

The A380 is a great experience but if you are going to Dubai I'd stop for more than one night. It's fun place to spend a few days (as long as you avoid drugs, sex of the beach or anything else likely to get you in trouble)

I used to think my dad was a pilot....he wasn't.

I'm really nervous about flying, I know it's pathetic and I flew loads when I was younger but the older I get the more scared I get. Off on holiday in two weeks and I'm just happy it's free alcohol on the flight!

Is Manchester Airport the only UK airport with an official viewing area? I've sent the council a load of ideas for a similar one at Birmingham but not sure what the response will be. I could get some organisations on board as well.

Who else here keeps up with the on-goings of their local airport?

The controversy was around the fact that many viewers thought it was racist.

There won't be a second series sadly because Matt Lucas didn't want to do another one.

Oh, the Precious character? I suppose I could see it was racist but I didn't realise there was a fuss about it

When I'm at an airport I often laugh to myself when I see someone that reminds me of the show

It was still really popular with viewers - most watched programme on Christmas Day that year.

There was an American one, actually. It was called 'Wings'. Set in a small airport/airline office. I quite enjoyed it! It lasted 8 seasons.

My other half loves both trains and planes. Equal opportunism in action!

I just love planes (as I travel every day on a train they don't have any fascination for me - except for those that run on steam or Diesel).

My very first flight was in a Cessna at an airshow. I actually preferred that to big planes as I find it very boring once you're in the air! I actually find myself getting quite excited when we hit turbulance .....
