Stories You'd Like To See In The Future

Well, what type of stories would people like to see in the future of the show?

Is there any place you'd like the next companion to come from?
Any place in time or space that you think could/should be seen?
Or even any story you'd like to see a sequel/continuation of?

I'll get the ball rolling ...

- I wouldn't mind seeing a Welsh companion or an Irish one
- I'd like to see a story based on a planet seen in the Classic Series (not Gallifrey/Skaro) or more less obvious historical settings I suppose.
- I wouldn't mind a sequel of sorts/continuation of stories like The Waters Of Mars or Amy's Choice.

The Doctor could meet up with Harry Houdini as he taught him a lot of tricks but not sure if they actually showed him meeting him.

Einstein

Would really like to see Earth in the future. We're always going forward in time but we never actually see Earth, we're just told about it being the heart of a space empire and that it's "full." I want to see Earth!!! I'd also like to see the effects of aliens being known to exist. I think this was a real missed oppurtunity with the RTD era, we were told everyone knew about aliens after invasions by the sycorax, the cybermen and the daleks, yet things seemed to be exactly the same as beforehand. Dr Who's a show where you can easily go to Earth as it is now via time travel, so why not show changes as a resukt of all this? Do they really expect us to believe everything would be exactly the same after the planet had been invaded, that everything would just go on as normal now we knew we werent alone?

I'd like to see more of a dark Doctor, I'd like to see him go through more and more till he evolves into this evil monster similar to the master, maybe the valeyard who would finds his and the Masters roles reversed, the Master would find himself having to work with the Doctor's freinds and allies in order to prevent the valeyard ending everything

I want to know what was really out there on Midnight.
And to see the return of the Rutans,
And to find out why no-one got any throat lozenges for that poor man saying "Silence Will Fall" in series 5.

Agreed!

I'd love a story centered around Burke and Hare. I have no idea what could happen in it, but it would be awesome

Just any story that's set in old Edinburgh (top stories for me would either be B+H or the plague), because I don't think the Doctor's been to Edinburgh yet...if I remember correctly!

First ever post in the DH forum, done.

I'd like to see a story based around a well-known historical figure getting the kudos for inventing something that someone else actually invented - there could be myriad of reasons, both sci-fi and more terrestrial that could have been the cause. In the same way that Alexander Graham Bell is known for his telephone, when supposedly Elisha Gray invented it first. The Doctor himself (or the companion, that could be a good story) could be the reason the original inventor faded into obscurity, and someon else gained all the accolades...

I'd like to see a story about regeneration. Not just a regeneration story, but the science behind it, the way it works.

I always imagined Timelord DNA as having three strands instead of our two. When the regeneration happens, the outer strands die and the inner strand, the latent potential DNA, splits to form a new load of genes.

Not at all backed up by anything in series, just my little idea. But yeah, I want to know more about the process, and by extension, whether its a galifreyan thing or just select people (aka timelords vs galifreyans)

Something that explores the origin of the Timelords.
Did they evolve/spring from us? After all, all it takes (apparently) is human conception to take place in a TARDIS (exposed to the time vortex).

The Doctor stealing the TARDIS and other events from before we met number 1.

(Weren't previous incarnations of the Doctor (before William Hartnell) shown in the mind battle in (was it) Brain of Morbius? Maybe my memory of that one is faulty. It's been a while)

Re-appearance of the Doctor's "daughter".

Ice Warriors (as villains)

remake or sequel of "city of death"; 2 parter episode must feature alien mask-removal reveal as cliffhanger.

I would quite happily be the Irish companion someone who greets everyone with 'top o' the mornin' and swear leprechauns are real, constantly say 'it's all for the craic' and shout 'yeeo' at inappropriate moments. Perhaps even say to the Doctor 'fancy a shift?' We do have the 'irish charm.'

omg. We need an Irish companion.

Didn't that happen in The Sarah Jane Adventures? Mona Lisa's Revenge.

Not to turn this into yet another 50th Anniversary thread, but in the build up I'd quite like to see The Doctor being forced to cross his own timeline and observe previous adventures like The Claws of Axos, or Robot, from afar. Perhaps someone is trying to change the events of those stories, so the Eleventh Doctor has to sneak about, entering rooms where the 3rd or 4th Doctor and co have just left, to do something to prevent history being changed.

Just a thought.

The 8th Doctor is getting one in audios from November onwards, called Molly and played by Ruth Bradley but it would nice to see the actual series do it too at some point.

I'd love to see an old companion's daughter begin to travel with the doctor. I'd just love to see the likes of Ace or Peri be warning their daughters away from him. They'd know the good times come crashing down very quick. Or maybe Ian's grandchild?

I really disagree with this, the mystery around what it is is one of the best things about the episode

I'd like a story that explains why the Tardis couldn't translate that wording in The Satan Pit. Also bring back the devil from that story too

Again, I think this would ruin the sense of mystery in this story, that we never really find out what this thing is and that it comes from an impossible time and is more powerful than anyhting, beyond comprehension. Its that sense of mystery that makes those 2 episodes so powerful

Yeah I can see that point of view. Just feels like a shame to leave something that is so thought provoking

That's a really nice idea actually. Imagine what long lost horror Burke and Hare might unearth beneath Edinburgh. And Edinburgh as a backdrop for Doctor Who would be fantastic.

The return of...
- the Mara
- Sil or others of his race
- the Rani, Monk and other Time Lords

...stories featuring...
- a robot/android companion (more kamelion than k9)
- historical settings not yet visited in the new series - ancient greece, china, japan, pre-colonisation america and australia, central africa and the arctic/antarctic
- Vikings .... lots and lots of Vikings ...... Vikings in America?

... and finally i'd like to see the series lengthened to 8 eps either side of xmas .... stick a proper halloween ep in part 1, get a guest writer such as Gaiman or Richard Curtis in for the xmas special each year and have a cliffhanger ending to part 2 leading into the next series.

Things I'd like to see:

1) An alien companion/friend.
2) What Earth looks like in the future (probably would cost a lot of money for CGI and other effects though).
3) An episode set on Neptune.
4) Albert Einstein ends up in the year 2015, whilst Barack Obama ends up in 776 BC where the first Olympic Games are being held.
5) To see futures house (inside & outside), future transport, future media and future predetors.
6) A zombie apocalypse on future earth.
7) Ace or River Song's daughter becoming a companion to the Doctor. River Song's daughter can be called Harmony Pond.
8) Sequels to; The Waters of Mars, Midnight, Human Nature & The Family of Blood.
9) Prequel to The Empty Child & The Doctor Dances. It should be set in the middle of WW1.
10) An episode based around the story of Macbeth.
11) An episode based around Alice in Wonderland but made a lot darker and scarier

I'd like to see an episode with Davros in it but without the Daleks. It could be very interesting.
