I suppose Emmerdale are trying to be different by airing there festive episodes at the end of the year as apposed to Crimbo day, which makes them more memorable like last years storm.

Emmerdale will probably go for a big New Year like it did last year.

That’s what I said - Tom and Charity's wedding will probably warrant a special and I think it takes place in the first week of January.

Yeah, its good that not every soap does something big at christmas and some save the big events for New Years.

I wonder if Emmerdale has anything super planned for New Year like the Storm.

Thank goodness they replay the soaps on the other channels later in the evening, as I always have a houseful of people and have to tape all my fave shows.

Can't you tape the original showings?

I'm surprised that Emmerdale hasn't done an hour-long special. Because they have in recent years.

Schedule has changed:

ITV1

5.15pm News
5.30pm Millionaire
6.30pm Emmerdale
7.00pm Coronation Street
8.00pm Midsomer Murders
10.00pm Parkinson
11.00pm News

BBC1

5.45 News
5.55 EastEnders
6.25 Harry Potter
8.45 EastEnders

ITV1's looks a lot stronger, certainly a good idea moving Millionaire back from 7pm, and Parkinson is a good addition too.

well it looks like Corrie will lose a few million to Harry Potter then.

Well I know which one I think is 'The ONE for Christmas'

Sounds like the only hope for Corrie being Number 1 this xmas sadly is to show the old IBA testcards while EE is on. That would certainly pull viewers towards ITV1
Safra

That makes more sense with Corrie following Emmerdale!

Im not sure how it could play out with the soaps up against Harry Potter. I personally can't stand Harry Potter but i do know it is popular.
But then again, soaps are always the thing to watch on xmas day

I think ITV will do better than last year anyway. I hope Vicar of Dibley is still on Xmas Day like it was in the first schedule as I am looking forward to that. I think BBC moving Harry Potter to 6.25pm is a lot better for them, although I think it is one of the most seen movies in UK cinema history in terms of admissions and one of the biggest ever selling DVDs so everyone who wants to see it will have seen it by now.

I think Ab Fab is on at 10pm EE will win in the ratings for sure now

Notice EastEnders has now opted for an hour-long special rather than two episodes. Emmerdale isn't an hour long but Corrie is. Parky is on ITV1 and Ab Fab on BBC1. A Christmas special with Paul McCartney and Alex Ferguson of Millionaire is on ITV while the BBC are showing the first Harry Potter. A new episode of Midsomer Murders is on ITV whilst the BBC have a new episode of the Vicar of Dibley.

ITV1
5.40 News
5.55 Millionaire
6.55 Emmerdale
7.25 Coronation Street
8.30 Midsomer Murders: The Ghost of Christmas Past
10.30 Parkinson
11.30 Film: Finding Forrester

BBC1
5.35 The Big Impression
6.05 Film: Harry Potter
8.25 Eastenders
9.25 Vicar Of Dibley
10.20 News
10.30 Absolutely Fabulous
